It is learned that recently, according to the latest survey by consumer insight company Numerator, online sales accounted for the largest share of sales during this year's Cyber Weekend (including Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Saturday and Sunday), and Amazon attracted 86% of consumers to make all or part of their shopping. In terms of shopping categories, although furniture has a lower purchase share (only 6%), home furnishings, such as bedding and decorations, account for 29% of purchases, ranking fifth after clothing/shoes (65%), beauty products (34%), groceries (34%) and toys/video games (31%). In terms of the shopping platforms most frequently visited by consumers, Amazon ranked first (86%), Walmart (64%) and Target (47%) ranked second and third respectively, becoming the main online or offline shopping platforms. Department stores ranked fourth with a share of 32%, and club stores (22%) and discount stores (such as TJ Maxx and Marshall's, accounting for 16%) ranked fifth. The survey also showed that the main purpose of consumers' Cyber Week shopping was gift giving. Nearly one-third (29%) of consumers shopped online only to buy gifts for others, another 38% of consumers mainly bought gifts, and 7% said that the items they bought were not gifts. Influenced by price increases, 52% of respondents said they paid special attention to promotions, discounts and coupons during Cyber Week. About 61% of respondents also participated in pre-Thanksgiving promotions, and 29% of respondents said that early promotions helped them more clearly understand their purchasing needs during Cyber Week. In addition, the survey found that due to economic pressure, 42% of consumers said they bought fewer gifts for others, and 34% admitted that their disposable income was affected due to rising prices of daily necessities. Overall, online shopping continues to be the dominant trend during the holiday shopping season. While consumers are looking for promotions and discounts, they are also showing a more rational shopping attitude. Author✎ Summer/ |
