U.S. electronics spending rises 3.5% in early December as holiday spending rebounds

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, Circana's latest holiday sales data showed that as of December 7, US holiday consumer electronics spending increased by 3.5% year-on-year, with high-end and innovative products performing outstandingly.

Circana pointed out that consumer electronics revenue has declined for eight consecutive quarters during the epidemic, but sales have increased this year, indicating that consumers' purchasing power has recovered during the holiday promotion period. Although the overall average selling price has declined to a limited extent, notebook computer sales have increased by 9% year-on-year and desktop computers have increased by 7%. Tablets have achieved double-digit growth for six consecutive months, with an increase of 13% in this period. These data show that consumers continue to have strong demand for efficient productivity tools.

In the TV category, although overall sales have declined compared to 2023, high-end products have performed strongly. Sales of TVs larger than 75 inches increased by 20%, and OLED TVs increased by 12%, indicating that some consumers are still willing to pay for high-quality experiences in an environment of continued inflation. In addition, innovative wearable devices have also become a popular choice for holiday shopping. Sales of VR headsets and AR glasses increased by 17% compared to the same period last year, and sales of fitness trackers doubled year-on-year, especially smart rings, which are favored by consumers.

At the same time, the camera category performed well, driven by the digital creator economy, with sales of action cameras increasing by 28% and mirrorless cameras increasing by 2%. Headphones also remained a popular category, with sales of in-ear and head-mounted wireless headphones increasing by 28% year-on-year.
