The EU Authorized Representative’s authorization scope includes companies that sell products online and offline. The Authorized Representative has the following responsibilities:

1. The authorized representative authorizes the non-EU company to use the authorized representative’s European address on the product packaging

2. The authorized representative holds technical documents, test reports and other relevant compliance documents

3. The authorised representative communicates with national competent authorities (e.g. market surveillance authorities) on behalf of the non-EU company

Corporate Responsibilities:

Enterprises need to designate an EU authorized representative, complete authorization, and provide document information to their EU authorized representative:

1. Business registration documents

2. Product compliance documents (e.g. test reports)

Risk of non-compliance

If a non-EU business conducts sales activities within the EU without an authorized representative address, customs authorities have the right to confiscate and destroy incoming goods.

UK Authorized Representative Introduction:

From January 1, 2021, the UK officially left the EU. CE compliance will no longer be recognized in the UK, and will be replaced by the UK's local compliance certification UKCA. For companies outside the UK, whether online or offline sellers need to sell products in the UK, they need to authorize a UK representative to serve as a compliance service representative in the UK and liaise with the UK regulator.
