American consumers prefer "buy online, pick up offline"! They are enthusiastic about same-day delivery services!

It is learned that according to PYMNTS's "The ConnectedEconomy™ Monthly Report", since 2022, more and more US consumers have purchased items from websites that provide same-day delivery services, and consumer demand for "buy online, pick up in store, or pick up in store" has increased significantly.

The report showed that in May, 36% of U.S. consumers purchased products through retail subscription services, down from 37% in April but up from 30% in November 2021.

Additionally, 36% of consumers purchased products via “buy online, pickup curbside,” which is lower than 38% in April but higher than 34% in November 2021.

Meanwhile, 37% of consumers purchased products via “buy online, pick up in store,” which is similar to April but higher than 35% in November 2021.

The report also showed that in May, 33% of consumers purchased products from websites that offered same-day delivery services, up from 32% in April and up from 25% in November 2021.

We learned that, on average, in May, sales of "buy online, pick up in store" accounted for 9% of total online retail sales; sales to same-day delivery sites accounted for 8%, "buy online, pick up curbside" accounted for 6%, and retail subscription purchases accounted for 6%.
