There are changes again! There are several updates to Amazon coupons!

text

Recently, Amazon has significantly increased its update frequency, especially in terms of coupons. From the front page to the backend functions, and then to various policies, a series of new changes have emerged. Today I will give you a summary and review.

1

New changes - Support for modifying coupon discount amounts

Sellers please note that you can only modify the discount amount of the coupon that is in effect. The minimum value is 25. Valid coupons can only increase the price, not reduce it.

Previously, if you wanted to modify the coupon amount, you needed to close the existing coupon and resubmit it. Now you can do it directly, including modifying the budget, amount, etc. The efficiency of sellers creating coupons has increased by 100%!

2

Prime member exclusive discounts migrated to the price discount tool

Amazon announced that starting from January 7, Prime member-exclusive discounts will be migrated to the price discount tool.

The specific time points are as follows:

Starting December 16, 2024, you must use the Price Discount Tool to create discounts exclusive to Prime members.

After December 31, 2024, you will no longer be able to create Prime Exclusive Discounts in the Prime Exclusive Discounts tool.

On January 7, 2025, the Prime Member Exclusive Discounts tool will be removed from Seller Central.

Sellers must have a Feedback rating of at least 3.5 points to use this price discount tool. If the requirements are not met, it will be prohibited from being displayed.

The new price discount page is as follows:

3

Limited time discount coupons

Amazon announced that from November 21, 2024 to January 13, 2025, sellers will automatically receive coupon fee compensation for coupons launched for newly released Amazon Logistics (FBA) products, that is, sellers will receive $0.6 compensation each time a coupon is redeemed.

No additional registration is required, but the final result will be based on the Coupon Dashboard of the seller platform. If an error message is displayed when submitting a coupon, the seller needs to make changes according to the page prompts.

According to Amazon's policy, all compensation fees will be directly returned to the seller's account before February 28, 2025. This means that after the new policy, this fee will still be charged and will be returned to the sellers in the form of compensation later.

4

Coupon submission policy adjustment

According to the latest coupon policy, as long as the product is new or has a rating of more than 4.0 stars (and at least 5 reviews) , a coupon can be created even if there is no historical price.

This change is very beneficial to sellers. Take new products as an example. Since they have just been launched, many new products lack historical price data. In the past, it was impossible to directly submit coupons, and sellers would miss an important traffic channel.

In order to avoid missing out on this channel, some sellers will choose to artificially “create” historical prices by placing orders outside the site, which will increase promotion costs and time costs.

After the new policy is withdrawn, sellers can also submit coupons, helping them save a lot of time and costs.

5

Coupon submission policy adjustment

Under the latest regulations, customers can use the same percentage discount coupon on up to five items in one order , instead of just one coupon per item as before.

When creating a coupon in Seller Central, the seller's setup options will determine how the coupon can be used.

For example, if the buyer uses a 10% coupon, the discounted price is $5:

  • If you only buy 3 items in your order, you will get a $5 discount for each item, for a total of $15.
  • If you purchase 8 items in an order, a maximum of 5 items will enjoy a 10% discount, with a total discount of US$25. Items exceeding this limit will not enjoy this discount.

Fixed-amount coupons remain unchanged. This adjustment does not apply to "fixed-amount coupons" (such as coupons that directly reduce the amount). Even if the "limit one per customer" option is set to "No", each order is still limited to one coupon, and the coupon can only be used multiple times if it is purchased separately.

It is not difficult to see that these updates can enhance consumers’ shopping experience on the one hand, and improve sellers’ operational efficiency on the other hand, reducing the tedious process before processing orders, allowing sellers to spend more time on products and services.
