Buyer shows help reduce returns! In 2021, the amount of returns in the United States reached 671 billion US dollars!

It is learned that retailers and online sellers are facing a return crisis caused by high logistics costs and delivery difficulties. Returns due to dislike bring additional operating costs to retailers and sellers. The return cost of fashion products accounts for about 21% of the product order value on average. A recent survey by Nosto, a transaction experience platform, shows that posting photos taken by buyers after purchase can help reduce the number of returns.

In 2021, the average return rate of US e-commerce rose to 20.8%, with returns of around $671 billion. In its latest study, Nosto surveyed more than 2,000 US and UK consumers and found that 61% of respondents said they would reduce returns if fashion retailers used buyer photos and videos in their e-commerce stores, because buyer photos are more authentic and increase happiness and confidence when purchasing.

Another study by Stackla last year showed that consumers are very happy to let fashion retailers use photos of their purchases. 58% would allow brands to use images of fashion they purchased as part of their marketing.

Other factors consumers believe will reduce returns include: ensuring product information is clear, detailed and accurate (66%); contacting customer service to learn more about the product (64%); and inspecting products for damage before packaging and before shipping (66%).
