Ceasefire! Big news for Amazon sellers

This year is destined to go down in history

There were historic meetings between the United States and North Korea, and there were also various events that would make future students suffer when memorizing history textbooks. For us sellers doing cross-border e-commerce, the most important thing is naturally the Sino-US trade war that started in March.

The impact of the trade war on our sellers is not just reflected in the 10% or 25% tariff. For cross-border e-commerce, more related policies have a greater impact, such as the "US withdrawal incident" mentioned by Alice before (click the link below to review)

Another wave of sanctions after the sweater war,

This time, we are targeting cross-border e-commerce...

At a time when Chinese manufacturing is spreading all over the world, a trade war with China will definitely be a lose-lose outcome for the United States. Looking around pragmatically, it is trading companies like us that are most affected by the trade war and the fastest. Both 2B and 2C sellers do not want to see such a situation.

When the trade war officially started, many Amazon sellers' products were floating on the sea. If these goods were on the tax list, the sellers would have to pay a lot of extra costs for no reason. After the war started, the high tariffs also discouraged sellers from buying tax-related items. In the long run, it will be very unfavorable to the trade markets of both sides.

Fortunately, just before the conflict was about to escalate and bring serious consequences, the leaders of China and the United States held a historic dinner meeting on December 1.

The atmosphere of the meeting was quite friendly and it lasted far beyond the scheduled time. In the end, the two sides reached a consensus to no longer increase tariffs on each other.

And the punitive tariffs added this year will be gradually eliminated.

The two sides decided to stop escalating trade restrictive measures such as tariffs, including no longer raising existing tariff rates against each other and no introducing new tariff measures on other goods.

The two heads of state instructed the economic and trade teams of both sides to step up consultations, reach an agreement, cancel the tariffs imposed this year, and push the bilateral economic and trade relations back to normal track as soon as possible to achieve a win-win situation.

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, December 2

The United States then issued a statement that it would no longer increase punitive tariffs, and would not raise tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods from 10% to 25%. It would also actively negotiate to cancel all additional tariffs imposed this year.

Statements released by both sides indicate that the Sino-US trade war has now entered a new phase of easing and shows a bright future.

However, as ordinary people, we sellers still need to be prepared. After all, the leader of the United States is a character who can turn his face at any time. As early as the beginning of the trade war, Trump said that China would give in once the 50 billion US dollars tariff was imposed, and if that didn't work, he would directly raise it to 200 billion. With the strong and continuous increase in the tariff, the United States will definitely win the trade war . We have all seen the final result. Both sides took a step back to seek in-depth negotiations and consultations.

Therefore, we still have to wait and see how the two teams negotiate. If the negotiation results are not satisfactory, the trade war may continue for a long time. Of course, the possibility of cooperation between China and the United States is far greater than confrontation.
