Have you been fooled by Amazon’s weird reasons for removing products from shelves?

Last night, Amazon removed a large number of products from its shelves, with the reason being that "non-US sellers are prohibited from selling pesticides or pesticide equipment." The sellers who received the removal letter were shocked. When did they put the pesticide equipment on the shelves? With suspicion, they quickly searched for the corresponding ASIN in the background, and found that it had actually been removed from the shelves.

Seller A sold garden products, which were not related to pesticides, but was still affected and removed from the shelves. Seller B was also mistakenly killed because his product description contained words such as anti-mold and anti-toxic, and was directly removed from the shelves without distinction. Our seller group was wailing in the middle of the night:

Since I wrote this incident not just to lament with you all, I need to give you the corresponding solution. This is my usual style. After receiving the letter:

1. Check whether the product title, Search Term, Bullet point and description of the corresponding ASIN contain any pesticide-related words (such as insecticide, anti-toxic, anti-mildew, etc.). If so, modify them to unambiguous words;

2. Open a case in the background, the path is Help- Products and inventory- Issue listing products- Provide an ASIN or SKU-Other product and inventory issues;

3. Directly inform Amazon that the listing was removed by mistake. We understand that it was Amazon's sensitive word search, but it was indeed removed by mistake. We have checked and strictly modified the listing to avoid misunderstanding. This product is definitely not a pesticide or insecticide. Please ask Amazon to quickly handle and restore the product;

(Amazon may be mistakenly killed at any time in recent keyword searches. It is recommended that you save this article for future reference )

This incident reminds me of the strange reasons why Amazon has removed products from shelves over the years:

1. Infringement and Manslaughter

There are two specific manifestations of this mistaken killing behavior. The first is that the product can be sold in the backend , but it is displayed as a dog in the frontend; the second is that an infringement letter is received in the backend case or mailbox, and the product is directly removed from the shelves. Amazon sellers all know that Amazon itself has zero tolerance for infringement, and it can be said that it would rather kill the wrong person than let him go. The sellers who infringed the rights deserve to be banned from selling, but those who were mistakenly killed have nowhere to appeal. For example, this seller :

What is listed is the accessories of a well-known game. The accessories themselves are not infringing, but the writing style uses keywords and well-known brands to seamlessly connect, which can easily mislead buyers into thinking that they are the products of this game company, which will naturally lead to complaints. Therefore, it is necessary to add "for", "with" or "compatible" to separate them from the well-known brands to avoid being mistakenly killed. In addition, the infringement itself takes a long time to restore the listing. You can also use the listing renovation method to reactivate the product. After activation, the spacing of prepositions is still maintained to avoid being recognized again. However, with the renovation method, it can be activated quickly to avoid the phenomenon of long recovery time and a sharp drop in rankings and traffic after being mistakenly killed. If you don’t know how to refurbish, you can scan the code at the end of the article to get the tutorial.

2. Manslaughter caused by adult products

A seller revealed that one of his products was marked as adult products for no reason. In fact, the product was just an ordinary cup. Coincidentally, another seller also encountered a similar situation. The listing was mistakenly marked as adult products. This situation mostly occurred between 12:00 pm and 9:00 am Beijing time. Specifically, the listing could not be searched through any keywords , including ASIN search, and almost all advertisements were not displayed. Even the price and quantity of the flash sale page could not be displayed.

Due to strict requirements of US laws and regulations , adult products cannot be sold to minors under the age of 18. In order to comply with the law, the platform has also specially blocked products in the adult product category. Only by searching the adult product category can you find the results. Unfortunately, this policy is exploited by people with ulterior motives. No matter how hard they try, they can't catch up with the sales of similar products. Therefore, there is a kind of villain mentality that if others can't find you, you will buy my products. I won't talk about the specific methods to prevent people with ulterior motives from taking notes and disrupting the market. When encountering such problems, they need to be solved immediately to avoid traffic loss and ranking plummeting: the specific method is to use a batch upload form to select the specific SKU marked as adult products, and the Particialupdate field Adult becomes False. Batch update is equivalent to forced update. If the update is not displayed, you need to open a case for modification immediately (listing editing rights plunder), provide specific pictures of the product and the problem, and modify it with the reason of misleading buyers with wrong information. Don't be emotional in the case and say that someone has maliciously modified it. One is that there is no evidence, and it will also affect the direction of the case team's actions.

3. Large-scale dog-like changes before big promotions

Although Amazon is a technology company, it still can’t handle the enthusiasm of buyers at the beginning of each big sale. Remember last year’s Prime Day when a large number of web pages crashed at the beginning of the event, popularizing the various dogs with names of Bezos’s family. Even if some buyers were lucky enough to see the product page, they could not apply the discount when paying, resulting in a large number of purchase losses. This was a big disappointment to the sellers who had been waiting for months. Fortunately, Amazon immediately fixed the bug and proposed a compensation plan for the dog sellers: the original 6-hour flash sale was changed to 8-10 hours, artificially extending the event time of the affected sellers.

I have always been impressed by the strong hearts of Amazon sellers. Although they have been abused thousands of times, they still treat Amazon as their first love. When encountering incidents such as the above, they can only post pictures on WeChat Moments to tease Amazon, and then continue to open the backend to work hard to earn US dollars, Japanese yen, euros, pounds...

During my six years of working on Amazon, I met a lot of friends who are sellers on Amazon. You are not alone on the road to Amazon. When one side is in trouble, all sides will come to its aid. Being a seller is already difficult enough. How would you get through it if you are alone? If you need to join the group, scan the QR code and contact me to join .
