Recently, more and more sellers have reported in our discussion group that their stores have triggered KYC audits, and many sellers have privately consulted me about the issue of submitting information being audited.

Just when everyone was confused about why the audits were so frequent, a piece of news suddenly spread: "European sites have introduced a BAP audit mechanism that is more stringent than KYC audits."

The recent increase in the frequency and difficulty of audit records is due to this new audit mechanism. Let’s take a look at what is going on.

Content of the breaking news

Let's first look at the original source of this news, a chat screenshot. This picture has been circulated among sellers, and I can see it in various groups and Moments.

I will briefly describe the content of the message

The European site recently introduced the BAP audit mechanism of the US site, which is very difficult because the audit team is different.

How do you know if you have triggered a BAP audit? BAP currently has the following three forms.

1. Triggered when the seller opens a store.

You will be suspended during the registration stage and will be required to click appeal in the background or send review materials (business license and legal person's water, electricity and gas bills are required) to seller performance.

2. Triggered during the store operation stage.

The backend will first remind you that your credit card is expired and you need to change it. However, if you change your credit card as prompted, you will be notified again that your credit card information cannot be verified and your store will be closed directly. You also need a business license and bill to file an appeal.

3. It is also triggered during the operation phase but the form of expression is different.

In this case, an email will be sent to inform the seller that a staff member will contact the seller within 24/72 hours and the seller should update and verify the emergency contact phone number and other information according to the instructions.

At first glance, this BAP audit is the same as the upgraded version of KYC, which requires sellers to provide business licenses and information such as water, electricity and gas bills of the legal person/company to appeal.

BAP audit is not groundless. Among the sellers who consulted me privately about the audit of their stores, there are many examples that meet these manifestations. Let me show you what it looks like when BAP is triggered.

Examples of BAP audits

The first one was a seller on the UK site. The backend notified him that his credit card information was invalid and asked him to change it. However, after the change, Amazon sent an email saying that the credit card information could not be recognized and the store was therefore closed.

And the new credit card that the seller replaced had actually been charged, which means the credit card information was correct. So the second email said that the credit card could not be recognized, but it actually asked you to provide your business license and legal person's water, electricity and gas bills and other information.

The second is that one of our students did receive an official email from Amazon, which indicated that the seller’s store was being reviewed and that a staff member would contact them within 72 hours.

Since some sellers have been affected, let's analyze this BAP audit. The core question that sellers are most concerned about now is, what are the triggering conditions and purpose of this BAP audit?

The purpose of KYC audit is to confirm the identity of the seller and to review and record the authenticity of the account holder's information. It will usually be triggered when the cumulative sales of a new store exceeds 5,000 euros, and it may also be triggered when changing the credit card information.

But bap is different. The triggering conditions are not clear. Even the second form will first tell you that your credit card is expired and ask you to renew it. But when you renew it, you are directly told that it cannot be recognized and the store is closed. The whole operation is like a fishing enforcement.

Since the triggering conditions are unclear, there is no way to avoid this BAP audit for the time being. If the audit is unfortunately triggered, you can provide the same information as KYC to appeal (the more the better)

Let me sort it out for you guys.

1. Business license of the company.

2. The company’s or legal person’s water, electricity, gas, internet, rent bills, etc. We have personally tested that a very effective piece of evidence is the company’s bank statement, which has a very high appeal approval rate.

3. ID card or bill of the primary contact person/beneficiary.

So if the backend prompts that your credit card is invalid for no reason, and it is useless to change it, or you receive an email from a staff member contacting you, don't panic, your store is being reviewed, just file a complaint normally.
