8,000 Euros per person?! Amazon is giving money to sellers!

The performance of the European site on Prime Day this year was not very ideal. When it comes to explosive sales, everyone knows that the Japanese site is the dark horse this year and the American site is also flourishing, but there are very few reports of explosive sales on the European site.

The biggest reason is that everyone should know that Europe has implemented full VAT compliance, and sales on the European site require considerable VAT costs. Many sellers have been forced to leave the European site because of this problem.

Tax costs squeeze profit margins and inhibit sellers on European sites from offering big discounts on promotional days, so European consumers are not as enthusiastic as those on Japanese and American sites.

The tax issue has weighed on both sellers and consumers, which is not what Amazon wants to see. How can it break this vicious circle and get more sellers to return to the European site?

Amazon decided to spend its own money to subsidize sellers!

Contents of European VAT subsidy

Since it is a money-spending initiative, the amount is quite large. The VAT subsidy for a single site is as high as 2,000 Euros, equivalent to about 15,000 RMB. The upper limit of the subsidy for multiple sites is 8,000 Euros.

The subsidy not only includes the taxes generated, but also the costs of registering a new VAT account.

The subsidy amount of 15,000 can basically cover the registration and part of the tax, which is definitely good news for sellers who plan to enter/return to the European site.

If the seller has already registered a VAT number in a certain country/region, they cannot participate in this event. However, if they want to register a tax number in other EU countries, they can still enjoy this subsidy.

How to register for the subsidy

First, sellers are required to fill in their merchant token in the registration form ( scan the QR code at the end of the article to private message me for the registration link) so that the system can determine whether they meet the subsidy conditions.

After passing the review, you can further fill in the country where you need to register your tax number and choose a tax service provider, which is of course a third-party service provider that Amazon cooperates with. Amazon has been thinking about holding this in its own hands for a long time.

The subsidy process is that Amazon first deducts the amount of money that needs to be paid to the service provider from your store account (it will not be deducted immediately)

After registration is completed, the service provider will send an invoice for this fee to you and Amazon respectively. With this invoice, Amazon will send the subsidy amount to the seller's account and pay it to the service provider within the deduction period.

To summarize, this subsidy applies to sellers who are new to the European site to register for tax numbers, or to old sellers who register for tax numbers in other countries.

The 2,000 euro subsidy can completely cover the registration and part of the tax (note that even if the 2,000 euro subsidy is not used up, the subsidy activity will end after one year)

Will Europe be the next outbreak point?

The European site developed extremely rapidly when tax compliance was not yet in place. Similar consumption habits and high consumption levels made the German site Amazon's second largest site after the US site.

The subsequent VAT tax issue brought about a major reshuffle for all European sellers. The loss of sellers also made the European site lose its growth momentum, which led to the sudden rise of the Japanese site on Prime Day this year.

However, European governments do not collect taxes from sellers in vain. Just a few days ago, Europe announced regulations prohibiting Amazon from closing third-party seller accounts without authorization, and will provide sellers with more regulatory channels so that sellers have a place to appeal against Amazon.

The intervention of supervision has suddenly increased the attractiveness of the European site. After all, it is normal for sellers to have their stores closed overnight for no reason, and giving a 30-day buffer period is really a life-saving policy.

The tax registration and declaration subsidies for new sellers on the European site can be said to be Amazon's way of going with the flow, giving a "push" to those sellers who are preparing to enter the European site but are still hesitating about tax issues.

Although the campaign is very strong, I still want to remind everyone that although the registration fee and taxes within one year are subsidized, you still have to rely on your own profits to pay taxes after one year. Be sure to leave enough profit space when creating the product from the beginning!
