Sellers will not be able to obtain customer information?! Amazon is taking "illegal interference"

Recently, Amazon quietly released an update in the background, stating that starting from April 8, 2021, Amazon will no longer provide FBA sellers with detailed information such as buyer's name and address.

This reminder was not announced to the sellers in advance, but was executed immediately after the reminder appeared, which felt a bit like acting first and asking for permission later. Before this modification, although sellers could not see the buyer's relevant information (phone number, address, etc.) on the FBA order details page, the delivery address and other information would still be retained in the Amazon logistics delivery report pulled from the backend. Many sellers would use this report to obtain customer information of FBA orders in batches for secondary marketing such as requesting reviews, postcards, and emails.

After this update, Amazon will no longer include customer information in the Amazon Logistics Delivery Report. The purpose of this report will mainly be to help sellers check the consumption tax for each order.

In fact, Amazon does not prevent sellers from obtaining consumer information, because it is not a good thing for sellers to know nothing about their customers. On the contrary, knowing some of the sellers’ consumption tendencies and habits can help sellers improve their products in a targeted manner.

This update no longer provides consumer information, which also affects some sellers who use seller addresses to do data statistics and research consumer trends in various regions. For these sellers, I suggest that you can enter and view the demographic report from the Brand Analytics function in the background, which can provide a better reference for sellers who want to research consumer trends.

It seems that the changes are obviously aimed at sellers’ excessive marketing behaviors. It sounds good to say that it is to improve consumers’ shopping experience and prevent them from being harassed too much. This is certainly one of the reasons. However, I think it is more of an adjustment made by Amazon to prevent the loss of customers. After all, now that commissions and FBA fees are rising, there may be third-party sellers who want to pull a group of customers to switch platforms or even build their own websites. If you do not provide them with customer information, you can try your best to keep both buyers and sellers on the Amazon platform .

Since my brother-in-law has already acted first and asked for permission later this time, and there is no way to get the seller’s information from the logistics report, I suggest that sellers who need secondary marketing should find another way and start with product packaging and review emails.

Amazon has done a lot of bad things in the past two days, and there is another thing with a greater and more far-reaching impact that was strangled in its cradle by Amazon: the establishment of the first Amazon local union in the United States failed.

Amazon union vote results released

Last week, Amazon's first local union formation vote in the United States officially ended in Alabama and the votes were counted. Unfortunately, the final vote result (1798:738) rejected the formation of the union, and the vote ratio was as high as 2:1, with nearly two-thirds of employees voting no.

In order to achieve this result, Amazon has been doing a lot of tricks in the past period of time, such as changing the traffic lights in the warehouse to reduce the lobbying time of the union organization, and placing advertisements on the website to let everyone veto the establishment of the union. In short, all kinds of tricks are used to prevent the establishment of this union.

However, worker organizations have made unfair accusations about this result, believing that Amazon is suspected of "illegally interfering with voting rights." In addition to the above operations, Amazon even hired special people in the warehouse at a high salary of US$3,200 a day to persuade workers not to join the union.

However, this is good news for sellers, because the establishment of a union will inevitably greatly increase Amazon's labor costs, and this cost increase will eventually be passed on to sellers using FBA services. At least in the short term, we don't have to worry about price increases caused by the establishment of a union.
