FBA's first leg exposed a shocking secret? The reason for the slow listing has been found

Recently, Amazon has updated the FBA shipment information query system. In the backend shipment tracking information, you can directly query the shipment registration status, including the warehouse address that received the shipment. Unexpectedly, many sellers were surprised to find that the warehouse that received the shipment was completely inconsistent with the warehouse that the shipment was supposed to be sent to!

In the screenshots of seller feedback in our group, the backend shipment plan required the seller to deliver to the HOU8 warehouse in Texas . However , the warehouse where the shipment was registered to be received was the popular warehouse ONT8 in California.

Because there is a price difference between the US East and US West routes, the US West is generally cheaper due to the shorter distance, so ONT8 in the US West is the popular warehouse, and everyone prefers to go to the cheaper warehouse. However, due to the platform's requirements, sellers must fill in the shipping address with the freight forwarder truthfully, and it is the address where it is. If the receiving warehouse does not meet the requirements as shown above, there must be a problem on the freight forwarder's side.

According to insiders, this operation is called far-away warehouse and nearby delivery. It is a gray area in the freight forwarding industry and has existed for a long time. The specific operation is that the customer pays enough money to have the goods delivered to a distant warehouse, such as a warehouse in the East Coast of the United States, but the freight forwarder sends this batch of goods directly to the nearest and cheapest warehouse in the West Coast of the United States, such as ONT8, and the freight forwarder makes a profit from the price difference in the channel.

This utilizes Amazon's warehousing principle. The warehouse will receive shipments sent to any FBA warehouse and then allocate them in Amazon's internal logistics system.

According to the feedback from sellers, Kapai is the hardest hit area, while express delivery for the final leg generally does not have this problem. Even the official logistics AGL has had similar problems.

What are the disadvantages of this operation for sellers?

In addition to the aforementioned cost of spending money on long-distance delivery but having the goods delivered to a nearby warehouse, which results in a huge price difference, delivery from a distant warehouse to a nearby warehouse will also extend the product listing cycle, because after the goods are delivered to the nearby warehouse, Amazon has to go through multiple rounds of transfers and distribution before they can be put on the shelves. Many sellers see the goods entering the warehouse and ask the freight forwarder for the POD (because this will be given when the nearby warehouse signs for the goods), but Amazon is slow to put them on the shelves. This is the reason that the goods have been signed for, but your goods are still on the way and have not arrived at the destination warehouse.

In addition, this operation of delivering goods from a warehouse far away to a nearby warehouse is definitely in violation of Amazon's relevant policies. According to Amazon's usual practice, it is only a matter of time before they will be held accountable . At the very least, they will be warned, and at the worst, they will be deprived of their FBA rights, or even threaten the safety of their store. This has a considerable impact. Please check your shipment delivery information in the backend to see if there is a problem of delivering goods from a warehouse far away to a nearby warehouse.
