This week, there are a few things Amazon sellers must pay attention to!

Last week, Amazon announced that this year’s Prime Day in the US will be held in early October. Prime Day starts on October 7 and ends on November 3, and with the warm-up period, it will last for a month. Because the buffer time is shorter this time, most sellers have already started to prepare in a hurry.

During the seller’s preparation period, several major events occurred that concern you. Let’s take a look!

Amazon FBA launches free shipping

In order to encourage sellers to develop the habit of shipping inventory directly to FBA warehouses, Amazon plans to close EFN and pan-European FBA between the UK and the EU from January 1, 2021, and launch the Amazon FBA free shipping promotion plan. Sellers can ship products from UK warehouses to FBA warehouses in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.

Sellers can send products for free, and the costs incurred will be borne by Amazon. However, the Amazon FBA free shipping promotion program requires sellers to use the Amazon Partnered Carrier Program (PCP), and the program is limited to small packages . Pallet transportation is not currently available for this Amazon FBA free shipping promotion program.

However, it is important to note that the VAT debt that sellers need to bear in the countries where the goods are sold and stored may change from January 1, 2021.

USPS says package rates will increase by at least 24 cents

The U.S. Postal Service said in a news release: The agency will temporarily increase prices for commercial package deliveries within the U.S. from October 18 to December 27. The increase has yet to be approved by the Postal Commission, but sources indicate package rates will increase by at least 24 cents.
The USPS said that the increase in e-commerce during the epidemic has put pressure on logistics, so shippers who send packages online need to charge surcharges and increase prices.
The U.S. Postal Service announced that shippers who deliver at least 25,000 packages per week will face higher peak surcharges as the holiday season approaches. The FedEx peak surcharges announced in June are still in effect and will be notified if there are any changes.

It is reported that investigators are investigating whether Amazon Canada has abused its dominant position in the market. The CCB also stated that the investigation is ongoing and no conclusion has been drawn that Amazon has engaged in misconduct. In addition, the CCB also encourages sellers and businesses to provide relevant information to investigators.
On the 17th, relevant German agencies also stated that they were investigating the relationship between it and its third-party traders.
A head of the German antitrust investigation agency said that it is investigating whether Amazon has affected market prices. During the epidemic, as a large number of users entered the Amazon website, some consumers reported that Amazon closed some third-party merchants and raised prices.
