The most detailed guide to searching for influencers, save it now

As an e-commerce marketer, if you want to launch an influencer marketing campaign, the most challenging and time-consuming task is how to find influencers in the industry. In the process of finding, you also have to learn to identify fake influencers who pay for fans, and make sure that your product style is suitable for their fan audience.

So, how can you search for the internet celebrity that suits you?

Keyword matching strategy

To find influencers in your industry, you need to first understand which hashtags and keywords match your brand. This is the basic step.

To know which keywords match your products, answer the following questions:

Who is your target audience? What are these people interested in?

What is your brand image? What are its characteristics and positioning?

What is the core value that your brand brings to customers? Why do consumers choose you instead of your competitors?

After answering these questions, you can get a series of adjectives for your brand. For example:

·inspiring, empowering, motivating

·Intellectual, educated

·chic, dapper, trendy

·controversial, opinionated

·offbeat, eccentric, alternative

·fringe, edgy

·bohemian, hippie

·carefree, free-spirited

green, sustainable, ethical

·Trend-setter, leader

creator, designer, producer

·Disruptive, innovative

Remember to make a table of these words for easy use later. When you search for influencers on various channels, you can extract some words as search keywords and topic tags.

For example, if a fashion brand’s positioning is “sustainable” and “ethical”, you can search “new ethical fashion influencers” on Google:

There are a lot of content about influencers and bloggers in the search, which you can carefully filter. By adjusting your search terms and trying to combine marketing channels such as blogs, Twitter, Snapchat, etc., you will get richer search results.

The steps for this part are actually very simple. Just find your brand keywords and then search through various channels, including:

Google Search

Social media channel search

Search on influencer marketing platforms or apps

Tip : During the browsing and screening process, create a form to record contact information, social media accounts, etc. to facilitate follow-up contacts.

Google Search Tips for Internet Celebrities

Searching is not something that can be done overnight. It takes time and you need to be proficient in searching to find the influencers that are right for you. So don’t just stop at the first few search results. However, manual search is too time-consuming. Here you can use Google’s advanced search options to complete the search task more conveniently and quickly.

Some suggestions for Google searches:

1. Dig deeper and use Google’s search suggestions

Look at several pages of search results, not just the first one. Look at the suggestions Google provides as you type your search terms, as well as the search suggestions at the bottom of each search results page:

2. Use search symbols

Search symbols are like "shortcuts" that make your search more targeted and the results more in line with your ideas. Here are some specific uses of symbols:

symbol

Purpose

Example

""

Make sure each search result contains the exact search term within the quotation marks, not a synonym.

“ethical fashion” bloggers

OR (uppercase)

Display a search term or other search terms (the search terms before and after should be interchangeable)

ethical fashion OR sustainable fashion

()

The search results show the exact words in brackets

(ethical OR sustainable) fashion influencer

-

Exclude search results with words after a dash

- instagram

site:

Display search results from a specific website

ethical fashion site:instagram.com

You can use a variety of different search terms in one search. Here’s an example of a search where the searcher wants to find influencers who are talking about sustainable fashion, but excludes influencers who are in the “slow fashion” category:

3. Set up search

Using Google's built-in search settings can help you get better search results, including:

Custom date range

Since trends change rapidly, what was popular one second may be forgotten the next. Therefore, it is recommended to change the search time range to (within one year, six months or less for the first search, and increase the time range when necessary).

Click the tool in the lower right corner of the search bar, then select "any time"-->"custom range" and select the date.

Change region

Google will automatically display search results for the region you are currently in. If you want to find influencers in other regions, you can change the region manually.

Click Settings in the lower right corner, then select Search Settings, select the region you want, and click Save.

Keyword and hashtag tools

Here are a few tools for researching keywords and hashtags:

1. Ubersuggest

This is a great tool for getting other keyword ideas from your core keyword. Just type your core keyword into the search bar and you’ll get tons of keyword suggestions along with the traffic for each keyword. It’ll also show you the top sites that contain those keywords in Google searches:

2. RiteTag

RiteTag can analyze images and selected text on a web page, and then provide relevant tag suggestions. You can log in to RiteTag with social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Buffer, etc. It also has a plug-in version.

How to use: Right-click the image and select Get Hashtag Suggestions. For example, for a photo of a unicorn cake, RiteTag provides hashtag suggestions including: #baking, #cuppies, #ilovebaking, #foodstagram.

3. Hashtagify.me

Hashtagify.me has a free version that helps you search for variations of hashtags, as well as information about influencers, popular trends, etc. Click on a hashtag to view these contents:
