The Amazon Day service was first launched in November 2018 as an internal invitation-only program called "Amazon Day".

After Prime members sign up for the "Amazon Day" service, Amazon will hold all the items they order during the week and deliver them all together on the day selected by the customer.

If customers sign up for Amazon Prime, they can still order delivery times for individual packages, including two-day or same-day delivery. Additional items can be added to Amazon 1-day delivery up to two days before the customer's ship date.

Purpose

The concept is part of Amazon's "Shipment Zero" sustainability initiative, which aims to make all of Amazon's shipments carbon neutral.

It expects half of its shipments to meet the standard by 2030. Amazon says its use of shipping boxes has dropped significantly since it began testing it with a group of Prime members last year.
