Emily Weiss, the founder of Glossier, graduated from the Department of Art and worked as a fashion assistant for the fashion magazine "W Magazine" and the assistant of the stylist Elissa Santisi of the fashion magazine "Vogue". In 2010, she quit her job and opened her own personal beauty blog "Into the Gloss". In addition to recommending her favorite cosmetics, she also interviewed many celebrities such as socialite Kim Kardashian, makeup artist Bobbi Brown, supermodel Karlie Kloss, etc., focusing on their private recommended beauty products.

Glossier's Founding

In 2010, she launched a beauty blog called "Into The Gloss", interviewing many fashion celebrities such as socialite Kim Kardashian, makeup artist Bobbi Brown, and supermodel Karlie Kloss to promote their favorite beauty products.

Glossier was founded in 2014 and received support from Forerunner Capital, a female-led private equity fund, at its inception.

Known for its best-in-class, original products in four categories: skincare, makeup, body care and fragrance, Glossier has quickly become an emerging force in the global beauty market with its consumer-centric approach to branding.

Glossier Funding

In 2014, Glossier raised $10.4 million in seed and Series A funding. The funds raised in this round will be used for the company's further expansion, including launching two new categories, opening physical stores, and expanding overseas markets.

In December 2016, Glossier completed a $24 million Series B financing round, led by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), with participation from Index Ventures. Emily Weiss, founder and CEO of Glossier, announced the news on the beauty blog "Into the Gloss".

In 2018, it received US$52 million in Series C financing from IVP (Institutional Venture Partners) and Index Venture.

In March 2019, Glossier completed its Series D financing with a total amount of US$100 million, and the investor was Sequoia Capital.
