Wedding dress sales are booming during the US wedding season! These keywords are gaining popularity

As the COVID-19 pandemic gradually subsides, Americans are returning to postponed weddings, and this season is expected to be the busiest wedding season in history. "The number of clients has almost doubled since last year," said bridal stylist Erin Cockerill.

The wedding craze has also boosted sales of related products, with wedding dresses being a key category. Unlike traditional white wedding dresses, Americans are more adventurous in choosing wedding dresses. Not only has the demand for wedding dresses in colors other than white increased, but black wedding dresses, which are traditionally considered "taboo," have become "hot items."

According to Google Trends, searches for "black wedding dress" have grown in lockstep with searches for "white wedding dress" over the past 12 months. In September and October 2021, searches for "black wedding dress" on Google surpassed those for "white wedding dress."

The trend has been gaining momentum since last year, and U.S. bridal brand David's Bridal will offer black versions of its most popular wedding dress styles in select stores for the first time this fall, having previously only offered custom black wedding dresses.

Among other non-white gowns, brides are also turning to blue, champagne, purple and red. In line with this trend, David's Bridal has increased its selection of unconventional colors by 30% this year, up from 10% last year.

Azazie, a major brand of bridal and wedding party dresses and accessories, said it has doubled the number of black wedding dresses it has sold so far in 2022 compared to last year and now accounts for about 8% to 10% of its bridal sales.

Celebrity influence is fueling the trend, with many stars wearing black gowns at this year's Met Gala and brides taking inspiration from their favorite celebrities.

Poshmark said its searches for black wedding dresses surged 75% in April compared to the same period last year, and sales of black wedding dresses increased 33% compared to the same period last year.

However, black wedding dresses are not going to replace white wedding dresses anytime soon. White is still the most popular choice, but brides want to have the best of both worlds. They will wear white wedding dresses for the ceremony and other colored dresses for the reception. Experts say this trend can last at least five to ten years.
