It is learned that according to foreign media reports, after announcing the suspension of British Visa credit cards not long ago, Amazon is considering ending its partnership with Visa as its US co-branded credit card.
The e-commerce giant is in talks with several payment companies including Mastercard, American Express and Visa about co-branded credit cards, the people said.
It is reported that Visa credit card processing fees usually account for 1.5% to 3.5% of each transaction. In order to cope with Visa's increasingly high fees, Amazon has to impose surcharges on Visa credit card customers in Singapore and Australia. In addition, due to its high transaction fees, Amazon announced on Wednesday that it will stop accepting Visa credit cards issued in the UK from next year.
The e-commerce giant's split with Visa is slowly intensifying, and just last week, Amazon announced a partnership with Paypal's payment company Venmo to add it as a payment option.
