Small Business Academy is an online education department established by e-commerce giant Amazon on November 1, 2019. It is committed to helping small businesses in the United States use the Internet to reach more customers, increase sales channels, and establish brand advantages. The Amazon Small Business Academy program will be conducted through on-site seminars, online courses, and community colleges. "Small and medium-sized enterprises account for 99% of U.S. companies, employ nearly 60 million people, and are the backbone of the U.S. economy. From the information we have collected, we can see that many small and medium-sized enterprises hope to get our help, especially those in remote areas," said project leader Nicholas Denissen. The first Amazon Small Business Academy was held in Mississippi today. From the perspective of course content, the Small Business Academy mainly teaches basic knowledge such as online business strategy, marketing, product display and inventory management. There are 16 class hours in total, divided into three parts: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Amazon also provides live webinars for small business owners who cannot be present in person, online discussions on Amazon's successful sales cases, and experts answer questions on the spot. At the same time, Amazon is working with community colleges to launch course content suitable for small business owners, helping national education boards cultivate more successful entrepreneurs. It is worth mentioning that Amazon has invested more than 15 billion US dollars this year and released more than 150 auxiliary tools to help small and medium-sized enterprises increase their online sales. At the same time, Amazon established the "Small Business Spotlight Awards" this year to recognize small and medium-sized enterprises with outstanding sales performance on the Amazon platform. Unlike Amazon's Small Business Academy, which provides assistance to small and medium-sized business owners, Lakeside University founded by Chinese entrepreneur Jack Ma on the shores of West Lake in Hangzhou is more like an elite college that attracts successful Internet entrepreneurs. Lakeside University was founded in 2015 and has trained five batches of students so far. In terms of selecting students, in addition to the basic thresholds of three years of entrepreneurial experience, more than 30 employees, three years of tax payment, and 30 million yuan in turnover, it also requires three recommenders, at least one of whom is a designated recommender. Lakeside University's admission standards are indeed not low, requiring both performance and connections. In terms of course setting, Lakeside University mainly offers four major teaching modules, namely platform economy, building future organizations, Lakeside's three key strategies, as well as some compulsory courses that have little to do with business. |
