Amazon Prime Day hasn’t been over for long, and sellers are already busy preparing for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Although there is still some time before Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this period is a good time to develop new products and test models. The start of Prime Day also means that the peak season in the second half of the year has just begun. According to Amazon's internal information, the platform will extend the Black Friday/Cyber 1 promotion this year. It is reported that the 2024 Black Friday/Cyber 1 promotion will be extended to 12 days, from November 21 to December 2. Flash sales, coupons, and top promotions are all commonly used promotional methods during big sales. Among them, Prime exclusive discounts are expected to be open for submission in mid-October, but unlike previous years, there will be a fee for submitting this promotion. Each discount price is charged at $50, and a maximum of 100 ASINs can participate in one discount price. This is a one-time fixed fee, and a separate invoice will be issued after the event ends. Industry insiders speculate that perhaps Amazon discovered that sellers are keen on free promotions and that the results are good, so it also included them in the paid items. For example: 100 ASINs are discounted by 20% and charged at $50, and another 100 ASINs are discounted by 10% and charged at $50. However, it is understood that Amazon charges $50 based on a promotion, not on an ASIN. For example, a member-only promotion can include up to 500 ASINs. Moreover, this fee is only charged for member-only discounts during big promotions, and member-only discounts on weekdays are not charged as usual. At present, many investment managers have confirmed that Prime exclusive discounts will soon be charged. This is not good news for many sellers who are accustomed to participating in big promotions at low cost, because some sellers may only participate in free promotions, with Prime exclusive discounts being their first choice. Some sellers believe that this fee further squeezes profit margins. If it is charged by SKU, then shoes and clothing and other products with multiple variations will be forced to participate in flash sales. Other sellers say that Amazon is actually raising the threshold for sellers to participate in promotions in disguise. In this case, when sellers develop products, they should try to choose products with high unit prices so that they can have a certain profit margin. In addition, whether or not to participate in the big sale day, sellers also need to consider the actual situation of their products, such as the inventory situation and the profit situation of the products, and comprehensively consider whether to submit them, rather than blindly joining in the fun. After all, doing business on Amazon is a long-term thing, and it does not rely on short-term traffic, but on product quality, product brand, and user experience! |
