After a wave of cleaning on the Amazon platform, all sellers, whether they have been affected or not, should still be in fear. From the official response announcement to the violation penalty, it can be seen that its attitude is firm and strong. It is not a temporary relief, but will continue to take more stringent regulatory measures. Therefore, sellers must not relax for a moment in learning the platform rules! Starting from July this year, some new regulations on the Amazon platform will be implemented. Let's take a look at them together. 1 Starting from July 1, 2021, the European electronic VAT regulations will officially come into effect, which means that B2C orders shipped to Europe will soon begin to withhold VAT. This new regulation mainly affects sellers using Amazon Logistics Services (FBA) and self-fulfillment (MFN). 2 The new amendment to the German VAT Act requires that from July 1, 2021, sellers must upload a valid German EU VAT number (i.e. EU tax number starting with DE) to the Amazon platform, otherwise the seller’s sales rights on the Amazon German site will be restricted, and sellers no longer need to upload German tax copies to the Amazon platform, but they still need to upload German tax copies to the Amazon platform before July 1 to avoid restrictions on sales rights on the Amazon German site. 3 Starting from August 9, 2021, for self-delivery sellers in North America, Europe, and Japan who ship directly from China to overseas consumers, the effective tracking rate must be higher than 95%, and sellers need to use carriers that have connected with Amazon for delivery tracking. If the effective tracking rate is not met, the seller’s self-delivery sales rights under the relevant product category may be suspended or revoked. 4 Before July 16, 2021, sellers on the European site need to ensure that their products with the CE mark are labeled with the name and contact information of the European representative. Such labels can be affixed to the product, product packaging, parcels or accompanying documents. For products that do not have this operation, the product may be seized or destroyed at EU customs, and EU buyers will not be able to place orders. In serious cases, Amazon may remove the product from the shelves. 5 To ensure buyer safety and improve the versatility of displaying products on non-HTML devices, Amazon Japan/Mexico/Australia/Singapore/UAE & Saudi Arabia will no longer support the use of HTML tags in product descriptions on product detail pages after June 27, 2021, and will stop displaying them in HTML format. The effective date for the US site is July 17, the effective date for the European site is July 19, and the effective date for the Indian site is July 26. Sellers should remember to update all product information with HTML tags on their product detail pages before the corresponding effective date. |
