I won’t post the data, but to summarize, those who understand will understand the general situation:
I returned to Amazon in 2023, worked there for almost a year, and left in December. The reason I left was that there were fewer opportunities for similar products in 2024, so I left early. The data for the whole year of 2023 is both good and bad.
Summer: acos 30-45%, about 20% in good times, advertising expenses accounted for 20-30%, the price was 26.99$, basically dead, the average order volume was 20-30 orders/day, the performance was about 50,000 US dollars, according to the 5 links at that time;
Winter: acos 20-30%, advertising expenses 10-20%, selling price 39.99-45.99$, this is basically the data until September, July and August are pure promotion, the data is relatively poor. The order volume is 20-30 orders/day, and the data after BD is good can be around 150 orders/day, and advertising expenses account for 10-15%.
There will definitely be profits in the end in winter, but because the sales in summer were not good, the total sales in winter were only 6,000-7,000 pieces, with two links.
About ideas and points I want to discuss:
1. Age is a big problem. As we say here in Fujian, whether you were born in 1996 or 1995, if your family has some ideas, they will urge you to get married. They think that if you don't have a career, and you are still thinking about running around to work to gain experience, instead of thinking about making achievements by relying on others, and that it is a bad way to rely on yourself.
It is true that because of my experience since graduation, I feel that continuing to look for resources to work is the best way out. It is also the point where I feel I can see opportunities, so I still want to go out again.
2. Selectivity issue. Putting aside your age and the problems at home, you ultimately want to give it a try in a track that you are relatively familiar with. After all, it is difficult to start on your own without funds and only supply chain resources.
Should I choose Shenzhen? This is also a big question. Many people complain about Shenzhen, and many people leave, most of them take their savings with them. At the same time, there are also many negative issues. Shenzhen needs to work hard.
I don't understand why Shenzhen and struggle are linked together? Does struggle mean working overtime? Why do you often work overtime? Is it because you have too many new products and a lot of links, with an average of 20 links per person, so 8 hours a day is far from enough to find all the links?
3. Land reclamation issues. After working in medium-sized companies, I came into contact with large companies this year. In comparison, I would rather work with a boss who has financial resources and is easy to talk to. There are more opportunities for development, and I will have more autonomy. If I can find a company that has both financial and product resources, it is indeed the best choice.
The reason why I no longer want to work for a big company is that, apart from the big companies I have come into contact with this year, although they have better benefits and more team-building activities, and they do seem to be more humane than ordinary companies during every festival, there are also other problems with strict systems, too, and some unexpected operational constraints such as too many forms. I feel that the operational space is relatively hindered.
On the one hand, ideas are indeed easily influenced by the direct team leader, and if results cannot be achieved, the table becomes a form of substitute for results.
Of course, in addition to the disadvantages, I feel that it is because I have worked for too long and still want a relatively free working state, focusing on products and conversions rather than various meetings and form making. The core point is also because of the current performance constraints, so when a lot of your work is to cope with the needs of the company, you will find that you have lost the judgment that operations should have.
4. Do you really have the ability? In fact, everyone knows this earlier. I also stayed in Shenzhen for many months. Unfortunately, it was my third year after graduation. I was transitioning from a distribution platform, but I didn’t meet the right person. In addition, I was too impatient and missed a suitable opportunity.
The current situation is that I seem to have experienced the bloodbath of products in the red ocean, as well as the process of new products quickly succeeding from 0 to 1. I am full of enthusiasm for new products. However, with my current abilities, can I really be qualified for the opportunity to open up new products in Shenzhen? The above statement does have many loopholes. If there are people who share the same views as you, I hope you can communicate with me more.
In this industry, information is still very closed. I really want to communicate with other people I knew before who work at Amazon, but those who have achieved some success don’t reply to me. I am completely blocked and don’t know how to go down this path so as not to go all the way to the end. In other words, you can actually open up new areas, but you just lack opportunities. After finding opportunities, you should use your energy to the best effect, make achievements, and succeed. I hope that everyone can reach a higher level in 2024. I also hope that I can be free from the constraints of my family and find a suitable opportunity to regain my motivation, make products that I like, and create a small hit from scratch, and successfully maintain my position.
MrStephen • Xiamen • 3 days ago In fact, the core of the problem is: whether the current situation can be changed. If you continue to stay in Fujian, the basic salary of about 7k is not a big problem, but the resources you get are basically unpromoted, or half-cleared. In short, everyone understands that after all, any newcomer (whose performance is not 200,000 or 300,000 US dollars, etc.) will not be directly tilted to large resources. Under this logic, no matter which company you go to, even if you are very well-informed and have very clear logic during the interview, and whether you are creating new products or relaunching old products, it seems that everything is reasonable and well-founded, but think about it, why do you seem to have the foundation to make a product, but the links in your hands are basically still unrecoverable?
I'm not in Shenzhen, and the friends I know in Shenzhen basically don't want to talk to me. They basically just ask me a question, and then they don't reply after a day. I still hope to have more communication with real friends.
How big of a difference can there be in the operational logic or thinking patterns between different regions?
But as a side note, I feel that at this age, if you go to bed after 12 o'clock at night and get up at 7 o'clock the next day, you will indeed be in a bad mental state during the day. Are there any friends like me? At 6 o'clock, sometimes your brain tends to freeze and you are suddenly given the requirement to do data.
If I go to Shenzhen, the material rewards will be much greater than what I have now. I think I should go there directly. However, after evaluation, I found that the positions are only at the operational level, and the salary is basically around 10k, and it is difficult to get more.
