Walmart launches gas discounts for Walmart+ members to attract more members

It is learned that on April 27, Walmart announced gasoline discounts for Walmart+ members. This is its latest benefit to attract more buyers to sign up for Walmart+.

Walmart+ members will be able to save up to 10 cents per gallon at more than 14,000 gas stations. Through its partnership with ExxonMobil, Walmart will double savings for members and increase eligible gas stations by more than six times.

With inflation at a four-year high, Walmart is using low prices as a competitive advantage to win customers during times of inflation. That strategy carries over to Walmart+.

Over the past year, Walmart has added more offers to entice customers. It gave members first-time deals and access to exclusive gaming consoles during the holidays. It also held members-only sales and began opening high-demand delivery times, such as weekend mornings, to members. In March, it also gave Walmart+ members six months of Spotify Premium for free.

Although Walmart does not share membership data publicly, its leaders said that members shop more frequently than non-member customers. What's more, Walmart+ members spend more than twice as much at the company as regular buyers because they shop both online and in stores.
