The back-to-school season in the United States has begun! Target fired the first shot!

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, the back-to-school season in the United States is coming, and Target has taken the lead in launching a multi-faceted, omni-channel back-to-school promotion. The event is mainly aimed at two groups of people: teachers and college students. Target provides them with unprecedented discounts and offers, and most back-to-school items are priced below $10.

It is reported that the back-to-school season event for college students will end on September 3. College student members who subscribe to the Target Circle loyalty program will enjoy a 20% discount on their first order during the event.

Compared with previous years, this year's back-to-school season event for teachers has been extended by nearly six weeks, from July 17 to September 10. Target will offer a 15% discount for teachers who purchase school supplies.

Target is also launching tools on its app, such as a school list assistant and a college registration form, to help teachers or students place orders in one go. In addition, Target will not collect any sales tax during the back-to-school season.

According to the forecast of Customer Growth Partners (CGP), a senior retail research organization, compared with the "explosive growth" in 2021, the sales of the back-to-school season in 2022 will "slow down significantly". Although slowing down, it will still set a new historical record. It is expected that the sales of the back-to-school season in the United States will reach 812 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%.

Data from Mastercard SpendingPulse shows that U.S. retail sales are expected to grow 7.5% year-on-year (excluding automobiles) during the back-to-school season. In the face of high inflation, although consumers will cut back on spending, the situation is still better than in the first few months of 2022.

It is reported that Target launched the back-to-school season activities so early in the hope of becoming the "winner" of the back-to-school season and grabbing more market share from other retailers such as Amazon and Walmart.
