According to data from the North American Automation Association (A3), robot sales in North America have hit record highs for three consecutive quarters. In the second quarter of 2022, the total purchase of industrial robots in the United States, Canada and Mexico reached 12,305 units, an increase of 25% compared to the first quarter of 2021. Data shows that of the 12,305 industrial robots sold in the second quarter, 59% of the orders came from the automotive industry, and the remaining orders mainly came from non-automotive companies in the food and consumer goods industries. Jeff Burnstein, president of A3, said that while the automotive industry has ordered the most robots, in the past few years, the number of orders from food and consumer goods, life sciences and other industries has been increasing, and the growth rate is higher. This means that with the explosive growth of e-commerce, the demand for warehouse logistics automation continues to increase. It is reported that in the second quarter of 2022, the revenue of the North American robot market was US$585 million, slightly lower than the previous quarter. In the first quarter of 2022, the revenue of the North American robot market was US$646 million, setting a record high in 2022. Overall, including 11,595 units in the first quarter, robot sales in North America were 23,903 units in the first half of 2022, with market revenue of US$1.249 billion, up 26% and 29% respectively from the same period last year. It is learned that in 2021, robot sales in North America hit an annual record, with a total of 39,708 units sold, worth US$2 billion. According to Alex Shikany's forecast, North American robot sales are expected to break a new record in 2022.
