It is learned that recently, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of a Chinese-made air fryer due to the risk of burns. The CPSC said the plastic U-channel connector used to hold the two food baskets together inside the air fryer could break during use, posing a burn hazard to the user. The recalled products are PowerXL double basket air fryers, which are black or cinnamon in color. There is a silver label on the front of the product that says "PowerXL". There is a white label on the bottom or power cord of each device with the model number printed on it. Air fryers with model numbers DUAF-10 and DUAF-005 are included in this recall. The CPSC announcement showed that the product was imported from China to the United States by Empower Brands and sold in offline stores such as Target, Walmart, Kohls, and major online shopping websites including Amazon. The price ranged from US$60 to US$190, and approximately 319,000 units were sold in the United States. To date, Empower Brands has received 41 reports of the air fryers breaking while in use, including three reports of burns. The CPSC recommends that consumers immediately stop using the recalled PowerXL air fryers and contact Empower Brands for a full refund.
