Shopify and X reach new cooperation to help merchants promote products on social networks

According to foreign media reports, social media giant X (formerly Twitter) has recently reached a new cooperation agreement with Shopify. This cooperation aims to help Shopify merchants provide more opportunities to promote products within the X application.

According to the cooperation agreement between the two parties, X will improve the form of advertising to help Shopify sellers promote their products more efficiently. In addition, the two parties are working to simplify the upload process of product catalogs to help merchants create ads with the highest effect. This cooperation will bring more exposure and popularity to the products of Shopify sellers on the X platform.

It is worth mentioning that X has been seeking regulatory approval to enter the US payment industry to enable peer-to-peer payments within the app. If successful, customers will be able to pay directly on X, which will open up new sales opportunities for online retailers.

Shopify President Harley Finkelstein emphasized that it is very important for merchants to be able to reach customers on various platforms, and the cooperation with X will greatly increase the exposure of Shopify sellers.

As early as 2022, Twitter established a partnership with Shopify, enabling Shopify merchants to list their products on their Twitter profiles. Whenever a user clicks on a product, they will be redirected to the Shopify website page and make a purchase.

Since acquiring Twitter in October 2022, Musk has repeatedly stated that he wants to build the platform into an "app for everything" similar to WeChat used by Chinese people, which allows users to not only chat and watch videos, but also call taxis or pay merchants.

The report said that the details of the cooperation between the two companies have yet to be further implemented. If the vision of "everything application" is put into practice and the payment license is realized, it will bring more opportunities for retailers, especially those on the Shopify platform.
