Nearly 30% of US consumers plan to use BNPL payments during the holiday season, with strong demand from Generation Z

It is learned that on September 10, according to foreign media reports, according to the latest holiday survey by Morning Consult and Afterpay, nearly one-third of American consumers are considering using the "buy now, pay later" (BNPL) payment method during this year's holidays.

It is understood that the survey surveyed 2,226 American adult consumers. The results showed that 30% of consumers plan to use BNPL payment services for holiday shopping, and nearly a quarter (23%) of consumers said that BNPL can help them better manage their holiday budgets. The growth trend of BNPL is particularly evident among millennials and Generation Z. 41% of Generation Z shoppers said they might use BNPL this year, and 42% of millennial parents also emphasized the importance of BNPL to them.

In addition to the growing popularity of BNPL, free shipping has also become a key factor in shopping during this year's holiday season. The survey shows that nearly half of consumers prefer to buy goods from brands that offer free shipping to reduce the burden of shipping costs. Consumers who plan to buy gifts online are most likely to purchase through online stores/brand websites (69%), applications (60%), e-commerce platforms (47%) and social media platforms (18%).

Other key findings include:

① Holiday shopping schedule: Although most consumers hope to complete holiday purchases early, 34% of consumers still plan to concentrate their shopping in November, and another 15% plan to shop in early to mid-December.

②Popular gift categories: Clothing, shoes and jewelry are the most popular gift categories (60%), followed by toys (35%), electronics (34%), health and beauty (33%) and video games (31%).

③ Travel-related purchases: About 25% of consumers plan to buy travel-related products during the holiday season, among which millennial parents (35%) are the most active, followed by Generation Z (33%) and millennials (30%).
