More than 2 million baby swings have been recalled by the CPSC! 5 infant deaths have been reported

It is learned that on October 10, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of the Snuga infant swing sold by Fisher-Price due to the choking hazard .

The recall involves 21 models of Snuga baby swings, which have the same design but are differentiated by fabric color and toy accessories. The swings can rotate 90 degrees, have two backrest positions, and can be folded for storage. The model and name are printed on the bottom of the swing motor housing.

The following is a list of all recalled Snuga infant swing models:

Between October 2010 and January 2024, approximately 2.1 million units of the product were sold in the United States at Amazon, Toys "R" Us, Walmart/Sam's Club, and Target , in addition to approximately 99,000 units sold in Canada and approximately 500 units sold in Mexico, priced at approximately $160.

CPSC pointed out that because the product is not intended for sleeping, the headrest and support cushion on the seat cushion will increase the risk of suffocation. Between 2012 and 2022, there have been five reports of deaths in infants aged 1 to 3 months who used this product to sleep. In most of these incidents, the infants were not wearing seat belts and had added bedding.

The CPSC says consumers should immediately remove the headrest (by cutting the tethers) and body support pads from the seat cushions before continuing to use the swing. Fisher-Price will provide a $25 refund to consumers who remove and damage the headrest and body support pads.
