Recently, many sellers in our seller communication group reported that their products were identified as pesticides and removed from the shelves. Because the system captures some words related to agricultural products/pesticides in the seller’s listing, even if the product is not related at all, as long as the word sterilization is used, it will be captured and removed from the shelves for review. This is not the first time this has happened. At the beginning of this year, Amazon sellers were "taught a lesson" by Amazon. At that time, a large number of sellers were mistakenly killed by the algorithm because of sensitive words, and even if they appealed, their rankings would be seriously affected. However, unlike the algorithmic mistake in the first half of the year, this time the pesticide removal incident may have been caused intentionally! Let’s quickly see what happened and how to deal with it. ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ Is someone behind the pesticide incident? Since the beginning of the year, when Amazon’s algorithm pulled sensitive pesticide-related words and removed them from the shelves for review, sellers have tried to avoid these words when uploading products. Even if new sellers later did not know about this, they should be isolated cases, and such a large-scale removal should not happen again. There must be something wrong when things are abnormal. Soon there was news that this pesticide incident was a farce directed and performed by the service provider, just to make a quick buck and run away. If the service provider modifies the seller's products behind the scenes, adds a large number of sensitive words such as sterilization and disinfection, deliberately lets the algorithm catch them and remove them from the shelves, and then sells a wave of unblocking services to those blocked sellers. If there is no demand, they will create it . The service providers are really making a lot of money by being self-sufficient. What’s more frightening is that there are sellers discussing in our own communication group that many service providers have recently started to promote a service that “turns any product into a dog”. Let's connect this to the self-sufficiency mentioned above. It turns out that they are not just reaping the profits from unblocked sellers, but also collecting money from seller A to turn competing seller B into a dog (using pesticides to remove it from the shelves), and then collecting money from seller B to appeal for restoration. This is basically making money from both ends. The service provider is really going to make money. After understanding that this is a scheme by the service provider, you should be more careful when you see those "link-turned-dog" services. So what should you do if your product has been mistakenly killed by the algorithm? ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ Methods for handling accidental killing The direct cause of the algorithm's accidental damage is the sensitive words in the listing, so we should first check whether there are sensitive words such as sterilization, disinfection, antibacterial, mite removal and antivirus in the keywords, titles and descriptions, and change or remove these words directly. Then use the batch upload form to fill in the corrected information and upload it for forced update. You may get error 6039 when updating, but generally this error can still be successfully updated. You will see the product recovery a few hours after the successful update. At this time, quickly check the ranking situation. If there is a sharp drop, pull it back in time. Before updating, delete the ASIN in the background and then upload the form, the success rate of recovery will be higher. If you use this operation, remember to fill in the original ASIN and SKU when uploading the form. If the sensitive words still do not return to normal after being changed, you need to open a case and contact customer service, explaining that your product has nothing to do with pesticides and was mistakenly killed. Basically, customer service will restore it for you. When we do business on Amazon, we not only have to worry about our own sales, but also have to worry about attacks from our peers. Now we also have to be careful about being ripped off by service providers. There are traps everywhere. If you are not prepared for malicious attacks, you will easily lose your hard-earned money when you face these black tactics. I have summarized a small trick package for you to deal with malicious attacks. Please scan the QR code below to get it from me~ PS.
