With so many sellers seeking rights and debt collection, can Amazon really make money?

With so many sellers seeking rights and debt collection, can Amazon really make money?

After the incident in which sellers in Shenzhen surrounded the Amazon office, many sellers who watched the entire process couldn’t help but sigh - can Amazon really make money now?

With this in mind, we have specially organized a public welfare live broadcast course this Thursday (28th), in which Teacher Alice will talk about her three experiences of starting a business from scratch at Amazon, and will share with you the current situation and practical skills of Amazon based on her own experience. All the proceeds from this live broadcast will be donated to the WHO's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund to help countries' epidemic prevention efforts!

Today I invited teacher Alice to tell us about the specific live broadcast content and the significance of this charity live broadcast.

Q1. Why did Teacher Alice want to make this live broadcast a charity event?

Everyone knows that our sellers' business is highly dependent on the stability and consumption capacity of overseas society. If you understand this, you will also understand the significance of our charity live broadcast. Helping various countries fight the epidemic and restore normal production order as soon as possible is to help our own business.

The World Health Organization (WHO) played a very critical role during the epidemic, but such an important organization was almost cut off by Trump because it affirmed China's anti-epidemic work. Although our strength is very weak, as long as we can turn it into masks, protective clothing, and testing reagents for front-line workers, we can make the epidemic in this place better.

I think this matter not only has practical significance in helping the local area to restore the market, but also provides an opportunity to accumulate "merit" like saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda. Who knows, if we're lucky, we may have a huge order at the end of the year!

Q2. So what kind of experiences and skills will you share with everyone in this public welfare live class?

Many people would find it incredible when seeing the live broadcast title. But we insist on sticking to the facts and not making headlines. When I was working in customer service in 2012, my salary was indeed 2,000 yuan a month.

The work I am most involved in during this stage is dealing with various negative reviews, one-star feedback and AtoZ complaints. I will teach you these skills in detail during the live broadcast.

Recently, Amazon’s performance exemption policy is about to end, and sellers have to start worrying about late delivery rate, cancellation rate and defect rate leading to store closure. Everyone will need skills such as handling complaints and negative reviews in the next month.

The first two "startup" experiences

The three “startups” actually refer to my three experiences of starting a store and building a team from scratch. The first time I built a store was from 2013 to 2015. At that time, I had a team of about ten people and tried the single-brand multi-site approach. It took about a year to make the brand well-known. I could directly use the brand word for advertising, and the ACoS would not be very high. However, this approach is relatively risky, so when I built a team from scratch for the second time, I changed to the multi-brand single-site approach, focusing on the wedding dress category of the German site.

Small teams usually use a flat management style, but this cannot give full play to the strengths of everyone in the team, and the operating efficiency is not satisfactory. So in my second "entrepreneurship", I tried group management, mainly including operations, procurement, art, finance, quality inspection, etc., and the largest operation team will also be subdivided into groups such as ABCDE. Generally, a group is about 3-5 people, responsible for operating 2-3 brands, so when I started my second "entrepreneurship", I needed to operate about 20 brands at the same time.

Real entrepreneurship, leading the store and team from scratch again

As for my third startup, which is now Cross-border, in the later stage of the previous experience, the team was already able to run itself, and I basically didn’t need to do anything. At this time, I was mainly responsible for training people. After I decided to start my own business, many friends who knew my reputation asked me to help them train their employees. Because there were too many people, I gathered them together for a training session, which was the prototype of the training business.

Now that I am in charge of both operations and training, I have developed a cross-border Amoeba management model and adopted interest consistency as an employee incentive method. I will explain the above team building and KPI setting methods in detail during the live broadcast. Everyone is welcome to listen.

Finally, I would like to share with you my achievements since I started Amazon. After my first “entrepreneurship” in 2015, I used the down payment I saved to buy my first house. In 2016, I bought my first car. Then in 2017, I started my own business. I wanted to put some pressure on myself, so I bought a new car. In 2018, I bought a car for my in-laws and my wife’s family . The next year, in 2019, I bought my second house in Suzhou Bay, and I had prepared the down payment for the third house this year. I was going to buy a new property in a new district, but the launch of this property has been postponed because the pre-sale certificate has not been issued, so I am also holding on to the down payment and waiting to see.

Top: The property certificate of the first house. Bottom: The new car bought in 2017.

The reason I tell you all this is to tell you that 2020 is difficult for cross-border sellers, but not as difficult as we imagined. I still achieved my entrepreneurial goal of buying a car or a house every year. After this epidemic, Amazon is still an opportunity for us to start from scratch.
