FBA warehouses closed to prevent robbery! Is there a chance for a turnaround in the flight ban?

The riots in the United States have now reached a white-hot stage. On the evening of the 2nd, Trump urgently mobilized 1,600 active-duty soldiers to be deployed in Washington, DC to deal with possible situations.

These 1,600 people are a real military force, and they are not the same as the National Guard, which is of the nature of the "armed police". People who understand naturally know how serious Trump 's move is. He may escalate the current riots in the United States into acts of division and rebellion and suppress them.

Because of Trump's "militarized response" to the riots, current US Secretary of Defense Esper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Milley both appeared at the protests in Washington. This abnormal phenomenon alarmed many CIA officials.

"It reminded me of the things I covered for years in the Third World. Saddam, Bashar, Gaddafi, they all did the same thing. It was unsettling to me what only happens to countries before they collapse."

— Gail Helt, former CIA analyst

In response to the current tense situation, Amazon has also taken new measures.

Amazon steps up response to riots

After the riots entered a white-hot stage, Amazon closed two FBA operation centers in Chicago (DCH1) and Gary (DIN2) yesterday. Among them, the DIN2 warehouse in Gary reported that the facilities were damaged, and it is not known whether any goods were stolen. Sellers who have goods in these two warehouses need to pay close attention to the notifications and inventory status of the background.

Although DCH1 in Chicago was not damaged, Chicago is one of the areas most severely affected by the riots. For protective reasons, Amazon temporarily closed DCH1 and adjusted the shifts and delivery volume of other warehouses to ensure the safety of the warehouse team.

In addition, Amazon has also closed some small delivery stations, which are mainly responsible for last-mile delivery and package preparation. Unlike FBA operation centers with thousands of employees, these delivery stations generally have only a few hundred employees and are more scattered, making them more likely to become targets of rioters than operation centers.

Closing these distribution stations will significantly reduce the delivery time of orders, but since they are not FBA distribution centers, it will not affect the seller's warehousing. As long as the products can be sold in the warehouse, slower delivery is not a problem.

Another major event that may affect sellers' first leg is that the United States will suspend all passenger flights of Chinese airlines from the 16th . Now many freight forwarders' channels are in the form of passenger-carrying cargo transportation, and the ban on passenger flights also means that many freight channels have to be interrupted.

This matter was widely reported this morning, and many sellers were worried that the logistics costs that had been reduced with great difficulty would soar again. However, there was new news today that might turn the situation around.

Transit of passenger flight ban

After the outbreak of the epidemic, China adopted the "Five Ones" policy for foreign passenger flights, requiring that "one airline can only operate one route per country, and there can only be one flight per week." Under this framework restriction, the stock prices of major US airlines plummeted, and even after we achieved a phased victory in the fight against the epidemic, this restriction was not restored.

The reason for not lifting the restriction may be due to epidemic prevention considerations or the game between major powers. In short, many people believe that the US passenger flight ban is a countermeasure to our restriction.

After the US announced the flight ban yesterday, China's Civil Aviation Administration announced today that it will open more foreign airline flights on June 8. These unblocked airlines can restart their routes by applying for acceptance letters from the landing cities under the general principle of "five ones".

The Civil Aviation Administration’s notice did not mention the US flight ban, and we cannot guess whether it was due to the game between major powers. But since we have given in, the US will definitely adjust the flight ban on the 16th. So don’t worry too much about the increase in logistics costs. Just pay close attention to the latest policies of both sides.
