Amazon was stabbed in the back by its own people! Did the bizarre operation cause public outrage?

Twitch, a gaming streaming subsidiary, recently announced that it would remove all Amazon ads with "anti-union" content on its platform, and claimed that such ads would never be allowed to run!

It's already very courageous to confront the Internet giants head-on. What's even more outrageous is that Amazon spent a lot of money to acquire Twitch in 2014, which was Amazon's largest acquisition at that time. This is a bit funny, which is equivalent to Amazon's parent company placing advertisements on its subsidiary, being forced offline by the subsidiary and threatening to never allow it again.

What exactly is the advertisement that made Twitch, a subsidiary of Amazon, turn against Amazon? We mentioned last time that there was a very important event at Amazon from the end of February to the beginning of March. That is, Amazon warehouse workers in Alabama are holding a vote. If the vote goes well, the first Amazon local union in the United States will be established.

Amazon has long refused to allow various external unions to enter Amazon, and has used various means such as monitoring workers and recruiting special talkers to prevent the establishment of unions within the company. In short, Amazon regards unions as its biggest enemy. Amazon believes that unions will greatly affect the operating efficiency of Amazon's logistics system and bring a lot of additional costs.

The vote in Alabama is very important because it has been recognized by the National Labor Relations Board. This is almost the closest time in Amazon's history to the establishment of a union. The top management will definitely go all out to organize a successful vote.

The ads that Twitch refuses to run are one of Amazon's inducement methods. All visitors who click on Amazon's ads in Twitch will be redirected to Amazon's anti-union propaganda page.

In the promotional page, Amazon called on all BHM1 (the largest FBA warehouse in Alabama, with about 6,000 employees) to vote against it in the vote , and posted the voting method on the back of the page, and specifically emphasized "Vote No" for fear that the workers would read it wrong.

The incident quickly became a hot topic online, with many netizens and media outlets criticizing Amazon for using such means to stop the union. As a result, Amazon was exposed for even more bizarre actions by angry people. Amazon even manipulated the traffic lights outside the BHM1 warehouse to reduce the possibility of workers being targeted by union propaganda.

Amazon changes traffic lights

Because the workers at BHM1 warehouse would drive home on their own after get off work, the people organizing the union would take the opportunity to knock on car windows and promote the benefits of the union to the workers and win their votes while everyone was waiting in line at the traffic lights outside the BHM1 warehouse.

In order to reduce the time workers are canvassed, Amazon specifically asked local government officials to adjust the duration of the traffic lights outside BHM1, making the red light shorter and the green light longer so that workers can get home quickly (and not be canvassed outside).

When this incident was first reported, it was considered a rumor for a long time because it was too outrageous. Until last week, a local government official came out to confirm that Amazon did ask the government to change the traffic light signal mode outside the BHM1 warehouse.

Amazon reported to the county's Department of Roads and Transportation that "there are traffic delays outside the warehouse" and requested an increase in the maximum green light duration to allow more workers' vehicles to pass through each green light phase. After verifying the situation, the agency has adjusted the traffic light pattern on this section of road.

Putting these two things together, the public opinion on the Internet has exploded, and everyone is saying that my brother-in-law is doing nothing and that we should boycott Amazon, etc.

Amazon is in big trouble recently. If the union fails to be established under such unscrupulous obstruction, Amazon's reputation will plummet. It will win the substance but lose the face, and its credibility among consumers will surely decline . If this union is really established, it will not be very friendly to us sellers. Last time I said that the union will inevitably lead to more logistics system costs , and Amazon will definitely increase the FBA fees significantly.

The two sides are currently fighting fiercely over the union issue, and the outcome of the battle is still unclear. No matter which side wins, it will have a big impact on sellers.
