I was surprised to find that it was not just a category. There were many sellers experiencing a drop in order volume. Many sellers followed +1 to indicate that their sales were also falling.

Many sellers speculated on the reasons for the decline in Amazon sales. Temu has always been known for selling at low prices, and has never lowered its pursuit of low-price advantages since its launch. Some sellers have said that Temu invested a lot in the market in the early days, and many things were so cheap that they seemed to be given away for free. Only by continuously providing more low-priced goods can it retain users attracted by low prices. Temu is also constantly capturing data. Once a link with a lower price appears, the merchant will either lower the price or the platform will push another low-price link, so the merchants are also involuted because of prices.

According to the "2023 E-commerce Market Report" released by UPS subsidiary Ware2Go on May 29, Amazon is the most popular e-commerce platform in the United States.


Ware2Go surveyed 1,000 American consumers and found that 76% of them had purchased goods on Amazon's third-party market in the past year, which is 30 percentage points higher than Walmart (46%), which ranks second.



And it’s almost June, and Amazon’s 2023 Prime Day promotion is coming soon. A survey was conducted on Amazon’s US Prime 1000 members, mainly focusing on their shopping intentions during this year’s Prime Day promotion.


The study shows that 80% of respondents plan to shop on Amazon on Prime Day this year. 86% of those who participated last year plan to buy again this year, while 63% of those who did not participate last year plan to shop on Amazon on Prime Day this year.



55% of members said they usually have specific product purchase intentions during Prime Day shopping, but they also buy some new products. More than half of the respondents said they have bought products they didn’t know about before on Prime Day, and more than 60% of the respondents bought unplanned products, indicating that Prime Day participation is extremely high.

Then again, the price competition between Temu and Amazon is the direct cause of the decline in the number of Amazon users and sellers. Although Temu covers a wide range of categories, the prices are really low, some are even less than one dollar and free shipping, so we can't blame buyers for turning to it. However, if you win with low prices, buyers will not be loyal. After all, they are attracted by low prices. Once a platform with lower prices appears, the possibility of being replaced again is too high. Fortunately, the sellers in our big selling circle are more rational.


Temu buyers have no control over pricing. The platform holds the pricing microphone, and sellers can only have their profits squeezed again and again. I wonder how many sellers can hold on?
