Products are not allowed to be listed without registration! Just now, Amazon issued a new policy...

Recently, the term brand registration has once again been hotly discussed by sellers due to a new rule released unexpectedly by Amazon!

The brand name cannot be filled in without record

In the new regulations, Amazon said: Customers' wise purchasing decisions rely on detailed page information such as brand names, and accurate brand information will help customers find corresponding products and evaluate products when shopping.

Therefore, the brand attribute on the listing should be consistent with the brand name of the product. If the listing does not belong to any brand, the brand attribute should be filled in as "N/A".

For example, AmazonBasics products should always display "by AmazonBasics" on the product detail page. If a merchant attempts to create a listing that does not comply with this policy, the system will require them to fix the brand attribute before listing.

The following is a screenshot of the background notification:

I just saw this news and it seems to be fine. Amazon probably just wants to protect sellers with brand records. After all, copycat sales are so rampant now, it would be a good idea to issue a regulation to suppress them!

Secondly, it is also another governance of counterfeit and shoddy products on the platform today! However, many sellers have encountered big troubles one after another!

Many sellers' products cannot be uploaded

The seller said: I just registered a North American account, but it kept reporting errors when uploading products! According to the customer service, I changed the brand name to N/A. Although I could submit it, the backend still couldn't display the product, which means it still didn't upload successfully!

The error content is as follows:

It's not just the US site, the same is true for the Japanese site. The seller said he doesn't know what this account is used for!

The regulations state that sellers without a brand can change the brand name to "N/A", but in practice they still cannot upload products. What is this operation?

It seems that Amazon is forcing sellers to register their brands now! But then again, not every seller will register their brands, such as those who sell bulk goods. What should they do?

There are roughly three reasons why Amazon does not allow sellers to upload products:

reason

1. This may be a bug of Amazon!

2. Recently, similar products have been subject to transparency plans, which has caused sellers to be unable to upload their products!

3. The brand name used for listing has been protected by Amazon. Amazon restricts the creation of new listings to prevent the brand from being abused by other sellers!

I personally think that the third point is the most likely, because there are many counterfeit brands and fakes on Amazon, which has caused brand sellers to complain for a long time. Not long ago, because there were too many fakes on Amazon, big brands such as Gucci and Adidas wanted to list Amazon as a "notorious market", so Amazon had to increase the intensity of its actions!

So, if the product upload fails, how can sellers remedy the situation?

Remedies

1. You can try other brand names first, and then change them to your own brand in AB format. Be careful not to use trademarks that have been registered in the United States or have been filed with Amazon.

2. If other brand names don’t work, you can try well-known brands of big sellers, but remember that the quantity must be 0;

3. Use N/X format;

4. Use the method of following sales. The specific operation is: find an account A that can upload the product, and then use account B to follow sales. After following sales, delete this ASIN in store A, and account B will naturally get the editing rights of this ASIN;

5. Open a case to inform Amazon to request to join the brand whitelist and provide products with LOGO. If your brand is in the process of applying and has a receipt, you should also attach the PDF file. In this way, Amazon will add your brand to the whitelist and you can upload products.

Let me focus on point 5. Why do we need to provide products with LOGO? Because in this update, Amazon has made a clear explanation of what products will be considered brands on Amazon!

1. A range of products that have the same name or other designation on the product or packaging are considered branded products and can be distinguished from other non-branded products.

2. If the product itself and packaging do not have the unified markings mentioned in the previous item, then it must go through brand registration before it can be considered a brand product by Amazon and the product can be uploaded using the brand name.

Therefore, for sellers who have not passed Amazon brand registration, if they want to avoid Amazon’s difficulties, printing the brand logo on the product packaging becomes the first choice!

Amazon has been gradually increasing its efforts to promote brands over the years, especially after being nominated as the "notorious market queen" many times! As an Amazon seller, refined operations and branded operations are the only way forward. If you want to develop in the long run, sellers should still adapt to the changes in the platform and do brand registration as soon as possible!
