Amazon is taking ruthless action! More than 1,000 sellers are under investigation! A group of sellers will lose their shopping carts!

Recently, there have been various anecdotes in the cross-border circle, which can be described as "the melon is ripe and falling"!

Yesterday, nearly a hundred mask sellers dressed in white surrounded Raffles City (Amazon’s Shenzhen headquarters) and demanded that Amazon “return their hard-earned money”... They put on a “good show” for everyone!

Just as everyone was enjoying the fun, several more pieces of news broke out, and now it’s not just the mask sellers who are worried!

01

Registering with Amazon will require address verification via postcard

Recently, Amazon registration has become increasingly difficult! A seller recently revealed that he encountered the legendary postcard address verification!

The seller below said:

I registered the North American site a week ago, but I can't access the backend. It's always under identity verification. I just saw someone post about encountering postcard address verification. I clicked into the backend, and it turns out that I also have address verification...

I saw before that postcard address verification will be required starting from May. I don’t know if it’s true, but it happened to me anyway! Has anyone received this postcard and filled in the verification code?

The address verification process is:

1. Amazon will mail a postcard containing an address verification code to the address provided by the seller when registering.

2. The email is expected to be delivered in 7 days and the logistics status will be displayed.

3. After receiving the verification code, the seller fills it out on the page and proceeds to the next step.

One of the issues that sellers are most worried about is whether the postcard mailing address should be consistent with the business license address, because many sellers now use registered addresses, not actual office addresses!

According to the current registration process, the postcard delivery address can be selected! If any seller wants to know more details, they can consult the investment manager or seller support!

In addition to address verification, video authentication will also be a mainstream verification method for registering on Amazon in the future!

02

Video authentication will become mainstream

As early as last month, some sellers received emails from Amazon video certification!

Amazon said:

We are launching a new pilot program to speed up the identity verification and registration process for new sellers on Amazon, reducing the overall time to less than 30 minutes: this program will end on March 31. Unlike online material review, an Amazon specialist will help you complete identity verification in real time via video conference. Joining this program can speed up your seller registration and identity verification process and get results within 24 hours.

The seller needs to provide business license, legal person ID card and passport and other information!

Currently, this function has been launched on major sites such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan, and more than 1,000 sellers have been randomly checked for verification!

It can be felt that the threshold for entering Amazon is gradually increasing! The reason may be that there are many sellers operating multiple accounts on the Amazon platform, and these sellers are more likely to follow sales, manipulate reviews, illegally merge listings, and use black technology!

Raising the threshold for new account registration may help maintain the balance of the platform...

In addition, in addition to raising the entry threshold, Amazon has also begun to crack down on "unreasonable pricing behavior" on the platform!

03

Arbitrary pricing will result in shopping cart loss

Recently, a seller revealed that in order to allow buyers to purchase low-priced products that are not available on other platforms, Amazon forces sellers to adjust prices by "not giving them shopping carts"!

Amazon sent the following email to sellers:

It is understood that Amazon has attempted to intervene in the high prices of sellers on Amazon compared to other platforms in the past two years. For sellers whose prices are higher than those on other platforms, Amazon will punish them by depriving them of their shopping carts until the sellers adjust their prices to be lower than or equal to those on other platforms.

Last September, an Amazon seller revealed that one of his products suddenly lost its shopping cart. After some investigation, the seller found that it was because the product was priced at less than US$30 on eBay, while it was priced at US$50 on Amazon.

The seller was very confused, so he lowered the price of the product to the same level as on eBay. He was surprised to find that the shopping cart was back . However, he was helpless as he could not raise the price of the product. Once he raised the price, the shopping cart would be gone.

Amazon said at the time:

We do not compare lower prices on other retail sites (eBay, Walmart). But please be aware that Amazon regularly monitors prices for items on the Marketplace, including shipping costs, and compares them to other prices available to our customers.

If we find pricing practices in our Marketplace listings that undermine customer trust, Amazon may remove the buy box, remove the offer, suspend shipping options, or, in severe or repeated cases, suspend or terminate selling privileges.”

This policy has also caused complaints from many sellers: With high shipping costs, high return rates, and high commissions, are sellers really forced to sell JD.com quality products at Pinduoduo prices? It is hard to describe this situation!

From registration to pricing, Amazon's threshold is getting higher step by step! Sellers are reminded to use real information when registering and read the "Amazon Fair Pricing Guidelines" carefully before pricing to avoid unnecessary trouble!
