Why did the helmet become a national hit overnight, and even many sellers saw it as a hope for "converting exports to domestic sales"?

Because on April 21 this year, the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security officially launched the "One Helmet and One Belt" safety protection campaign, stipulating that from June 1, traffic violations such as failure to wear safety helmets and use seat belts as required will be strictly investigated and punished.

On May 15, Jiangsu passed the "Jiangsu Province Electric Bicycle Management Regulations", which clearly stated that from July 1 this year, electric bicycle drivers and passengers must wear safety helmets, otherwise they will be warned or fined up to 50 yuan.

After the new policy is implemented, how great is the demand for helmets?

According to the "one helmet and one belt" requirement, the new helmet demand gap will exceed 200 million.

At present, there are about 90 million motorcycles in China and about 300 million electric bicycles. Assuming one helmet per vehicle and a price of 100 yuan per helmet, the helmet market will be as high as 39 billion.

The merchants who heard the news also proved the potential market of helmets. Since the launch of the "One Helmet and One Belt" campaign on April 21, 2020, as of May 18, based on industrial and commercial registration, a total of 3,503 new helmet industry-related enterprises have been established in my country, mainly distributed in the eastern coastal provinces.

Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong and Zhejiang provinces ranked the top four in terms of the number of newly added related enterprises, and their total number accounted for 48.57% of the newly added related enterprises in the country.

In addition, like masks, the surge in demand for helmets has also driven the upstream and downstream industrial chains! A helmet is usually composed of a shell, a buffer layer, a comfortable liner, a wearing device, goggles, etc.

The helmet shell is mainly made of polycarbonate (PC), PC/ABS alloy, carbon fiber, fiberglass, etc. Due to the sudden surge in demand for helmets, ABS has risen sharply, with the highest daily increase of ABS being 1,000 yuan/ton, and the rate of increase being about 10%.

Similarly, the traders are still unwilling to be left out and have thrown themselves into this "grabbing" war early on, some even saying : they are looking for helmet production factories that produce 100,000 or 200,000 helmets per day, and will take as many as they can!

However, the current situation is that a large helmet manufacturer can only produce 2,000 helmets per day...

The reason why they are so crazy is that the country has not yet regulated the price of helmets, and they think it is profitable. For these speculators, they obviously don’t care what the outcome is, as long as they cash out in time and have a bulging wallet, they don’t care about the flood behind them.

It is obvious that the surge in demand for helmets is a domestic policy event and does not mean much for exports!

At present, countries around the world are still in the high-incidence stage of the epidemic, and the demand for outdoor travel protective gear is not great! Of course, if you have relevant resources, export-to-domestic demand may be a good choice!

Masks in February, goggles in March, meltblown fabrics in April, helmets in May, there will always be no shortage of speculators among them!
