Amazon will launch a Polish site? What is the market potential?

Recently, many sellers have received emails from Amazon asking them to upload their Polish VAT numbers. Many sellers have also observed that when they open Amazon.pl now, they are directly redirected to the Polish shopping page on the German site. Everyone is speculating that Amazon may launch a Polish site.

In the past two years, Amazon has opened stations in Turkey, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the Netherlands, and is also planning to merge stations in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. It can be seen that Amazon is rapidly expanding globally. It is also heard that Amazon is in cooperation talks with the Polish Post Office.

What is the local market like in Poland? Let’s follow Amazon’s footsteps to find out:

0 1

Polish consumers can buy products on Amazon

Polish consumers can experience and purchase in Polish on Amazon UK, US, and even Germany, and can develop and operate in the local market even without knowing a minority language.

Amazon opens seven logistics centers in Poland

Poland is the logistics center of Eastern Europe with abundant overseas warehouse resources. It is adjacent to the German market, but its logistics and warehousing costs are lower than those in Germany. Many sellers have already occupied most of the Czech and Polish warehouses.

Considering the local warehousing and logistics costs in Europe, Amazon will choose to transfer goods from the UK and Germany to cheaper warehousing locations, such as Poland, the Czech Republic, etc. Of course, sellers who join the pan-European plan do not need to bear the cross-border logistics costs (EFN) between European countries.

A research and development institute and a network service center

Amazon's investment in Poland comes as customer demand grows across Europe, and Poland offers Amazon a relatively low wage and geographical advantage close to Germany's large market. It has a research and development facility in the northern Polish city of Gdansk and an Amazon Web Services center in the capital, Warsaw, which employs more than 16,000 people.

In addition to Amazon, other international platforms such as AliExpress and eBay also have Polish sites. AliExpress is the most popular international platform in the local market, with one in four Poles using AliExpress to shop.

In terms of e-commerce revenue, Poland's e-commerce platform market is growing at an annual rate of 22.6%, faster than the United States (14.5%) and the United Kingdom (15.8%). By 2022, Poland's e-commerce revenue will reach US$11.709 billion (RMB 81.566 billion).

In summary, Poland's e-commerce scale is growing at a relatively high speed, logistics costs are low, and it has a geographical advantage close to Germany's large market. More and more platforms and sellers are paying attention to and entering the market, making it an emerging blue ocean market in Europe.

I believe everyone has some plans for the future of the Polish market. Many sellers have applied for tax numbers in advance for tax compliance, so that they can get a share of the pie when Amazon Poland opens.
