More than 10,000 stores were closed! Amazon has taken a decisive action against this behavior

As the number of new coronavirus cases surges worldwide, many European countries have issued "lockdown orders", triggering a second wave of panic buying.

Second wave of panic buying is coming

A new survey by foreign media shows that about 57% of shoppers are considering stockpiling because they are worried about a second wave of the new coronavirus epidemic, which will lead to grocery store shelves being cleared out. Data analysis company Inmar found that 27% of shoppers are concerned about the safety of in-store shopping and are worried about the possibility of a second wave of shopping, which has led people to turn more to online shopping.

According to foreign media data, as winter approaches, the demand for seasonal products such as heaters and kangs has surged, and the demand for basic necessities such as paper towels and cleaning supplies is also picking up. However, on Amazon, the prices of these seasonal products are surprisingly high.

Regarding the price gouging behavior of sellers, Amazon said it will continue to crack down on price gouging by third-party sellers.

Amazon suspends more than 10,000 accounts

To this end, Amazon will take punitive measures such as removing listings and suspending seller accounts for sellers who drive up prices. In addition, Amazon has also blocked more than 10,000 accounts for price gouging .

An Amazon spokesperson said: " We are disappointed that unscrupulous sellers are trying to exploit this global health crisis for profit, and in addition to removing listings, Amazon has suspended more than 10,000 seller accounts. We have referred the worst offenders to federal and state law enforcement to hold them accountable. We will continue to actively monitor the stores on our site and remove those that violate our policies. "

Amazon has called on federal prosecutors and state attorneys general to advance investigations and address price gouging, and has called for strong federal laws to punish price gouging.

This can't help but remind people of the situation of selling masks and other epidemic prevention supplies in the first half of the year. At the end of March this year , Amazon closed 3,900 seller accounts for the same reason. It is understood that those blocked accounts are very active in the US market, and more than 500,000 listings have been removed due to violations of relevant price policies.

In May, Amazon Spain blocked about 6,000 accounts due to price fraud . It is reported that most of these blocked accounts were selling products related to epidemic prevention supplies.

According to statistics, Amazon has removed more than one million products from its shelves due to price fraud since the outbreak of the new coronavirus .

Regarding price fraud, although Amazon has a "fair pricing policy", there are large differences between states in the United States in actual operation. For example, in some states, the price of goods can be 10 % to 25 % higher than the average price, while in other states, this will be considered "price fraud."

In short, product pricing is very important. Amazon has zero tolerance for price fraud, so sellers must pay attention.
