Sellers are worried! Riots in many parts of the United States have delayed FBA shipments! Logistics are almost paralyzed

Recently, there have been large-scale riots and shootings in many parts of the United States. As a result, the delay in delivery at the end of the United States has not been significantly alleviated. The load on FBA warehouses continues to increase, and new problems have emerged one after another.

01

Riots in many parts of the United States have exacerbated logistics delays

Large-scale protests broke out again in the United States, with clashes between law enforcement officers and protesters in many places, and shootings occurred in Texas and Colorado.

The protest in Seattle is one of the most intense activities in recent times. Local protesters clashed violently with the police. Protesters burned a local detention center and threw rocks, bottles and explosives at the police. Seattle is Amazon's headquarters! Amazon's local unmanned store was smashed and robbed.

In addition, riots continued in Portland, Oregon, with the number of protesters increasing to more than 100,000.

As the riots escalate, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the United States is also increasing. Netizens joked: Respect freedom, this may be the "most beautiful scenery"! Sellers in the industry said: It's endless, what's wrong with the United States? In this case, the delay of goods will be more serious!

Canada, also in North America, is also not at peace. The dock workers at the Port of Montreal are going on strike. The strike will directly affect the container transportation of the port, resulting in the suspension of all loading and unloading operations of container cargo in and out of the port. It seems that cargo delays are inevitable!

Logistics delays in North America continue, and the situation in Europe is not optimistic. An Amazon seller said that sellers who ship to the Amazon warehouse in Coventry, UK, need to pay attention to the slow entry into the warehouse, and UPS has been unable to make an appointment for delivery from this warehouse. Another seller said that the goods were airlifted to Germany on the 10th of this month, but they have not yet picked up the goods.

02

FBA cargo delivery delay

It is understood that due to a large number of FedEx containers piled up on Amazon's unloading platform, the latter was short of manpower, resulting in a backlog of pallets and cabinets, so it requested to postpone delivery. Recently, FedEx's largest transfer station in Los Angeles was shut down for a week, resulting in a backlog of nearly a thousand containers, making the situation even worse.

A logistics company's overseas warehouse in the United States said that currently all UPS warehouses in the United States cannot deliver, Amazon warehouses are paralyzed, and delivery is slow. The same is true for Kapai. It is recommended that colleagues receive less goods, or use full trucks of UPS and Amazon, and focus on delivering to overseas warehouses and FBA warehouses in the same state.

The warehouse is seriously overwhelmed, and FBA warehouse entry is delayed until September:

Due to the vicious cycle of slow receiving and slow unloading, the appointment times for warehouses with overflowing warehouses such as LGB8 and FTW1 have been postponed again and again. The delivery time of LGB8 booked by a certain card delivery company has been postponed from July 24 to September 2. There are also reports that the warehousing time for error warehouses such as FTW1 and ONT8 has been scheduled for October and November, which is unbelievable.

In addition to the difficulty in entering the warehouse, the delivery time of the goods is also a frequent problem. A seller said that the freight agent promised that "2-3 days delivery + 1-2 days for warehousing, at most five days", but the red order issued on the 16th was still in Shenzhen on the 23rd, and it has not landed for seven days. The seller regretted that he might as well send it empty.

Currently, the tail end of US logistics is in chaos and is basically in a semi-paralyzed state.

Logistics operators in the industry also believe that the future of terminal logistics is not optimistic. The entire tail-end logistics system will be under tremendous pressure, and the possibility of greater chaos cannot be ruled out.

03

Amazon Canada increases FBA rates

Amazon Canada released a major update last weekend, adjusting the commission rates for some categories and increasing the delivery fees for FBA logistics.

Every year Amazon makes some adjustments to commissions and fees, but they are generally announced at the end of the year and implemented at the beginning of the following year, leaving sellers ample time to prepare. This time, the Canadian station announced it at the end of July and it will be implemented on September 1st, which is indeed a bit hasty. Let's first show you what has changed.

First of all, there are changes in commissions. In total, the rates for outdoor furniture, personal care products, electronic office equipment and Ring accessories have been adjusted.

Another important change is the increase in FBA rates. This time, Amazon has increased the fees for local delivery in a step-by-step manner. Officials claim that the overall increase is about 3%. So how much has it actually increased? Take a look at the fee table in the background.

In short, the cost of standard parts weighing less than 500g has not changed much, and the delivery fee of products weighing less than 250g is even cheaper than before. The cost of standard parts weighing more than 500g has increased mainly in the first weight, from 6.08 Canadian dollars to 6.4 Canadian dollars, an increase of about 5%. The delivery fee of large products has increased more sharply, with the first weight increasing by about 20%.

The overall size of the Canadian site is not large, and most sellers do it while they are doing business on the US site. What is most affected are large items with relatively few sellers, and the increase in standard items is not obvious.

The timing of the price increase in Canada this time is quite sudden. The local epidemic is far less serious than that in the United States. Logistic costs should be relatively stable. However, the United States is now overwhelmed with warehouses everywhere, and the situation has not improved even after hiring tens of thousands of warehouse workers. Will the US site also increase FBA logistics costs due to the large expenditures in these logistics links?
