Amazon announces: 100+ new product types and attributes



Recently, Amazon US released an announcement about adding more than 100 new product types and attributes.

We now offer over 100 new product types and attributes to improve your product detail pages. To see which product types and attributes are launched, see Product types and attributes.
When you create a new listing, you can view these new product types when you categorize your product in the Add a Product tool in Seller Central. When you select the appropriate template that is downloaded when you add a product via upload.
These changes will not affect your existing selections, but you can edit your products or bulk update your listings through Manage Inventory to offer these additional attributes.

In this regard, some sellers have reminded that they should pay special attention to the impact of these new changes of Amazon . The seller said that the Amazon system may adjust the listing category again based on the consumer search path and the relevant content in the listing details page (especially the title), and reclassify the seller's existing ASIN into the newly created category.


Many sellers also expressed the same concerns, and some sellers complained that they had encountered such a situation:

Amazon started categorizing our products in February and it has been an absolute nightmare. I have products that should have been in "sports apparel" but were recategorized as "cell phones" and I haven't been able to get it corrected until now.


We all know that Amazon has very strict product classification review. If the classification is wrong, the product may not be listed. For products that have been listed, buyers cannot search for products under each category, and sales will not be high .

However, there are also optimistic sellers who say that the increase in new product types means that relevant sellers have more opportunities to select products and can better plan their listings .


At the same time, buyers can also search for the products they want to buy more accurately , which is good news for both buyers and sellers.

Vicious competition breaks out in popular categories, and links to similar products become useless



Speaking of popular categories, Christmas is coming soon, and "Christmas decorations" has already entered the top 10 keyword rankings on Amazon's US site. Christmas lights and other decorations have become the hottest-selling products at the moment, and sellers of related products have already made a lot of money.



Recently, a Christmas light supplier broke the news to Maizi: there is serious malicious competition in the Christmas light category and scented candle category on Amazon, and many Amazon sellers are involved!


In the scented candle category, seller A made multiple links of similar products go bad by giving bad reviews to sellers of the same category, adding banned words, and issuing large numbers of returns and refunds , which led to seller A almost monopolizing this category, with only a few other sellers still holding on. Afterwards, seller A switched to the Christmas light category, using the same attack method as the candle category, causing some links in this category to go bad one after another, which made other sellers in the category panic.


A seller told Maizi that many sellers in the candle category had been driven away by Seller A, and whoever came to kill him would be the only one who survived:



The seller said that the other party has many listings, while the average seller has fewer listings and limited resources, so when the seller is attacked, even if he wants to fight back, he can only hurt the other party a little bit, which is useless. As a result, as long as other sellers cannot survive, the traffic in this category will all belong to Seller A.


Although notorious in the industry, this has no impact on seller A. "It's useless to expose them. They are as shameless as Trump. Last time, they replied to me, ' What if you scold me? I just want to make money .'" the seller said helplessly.


Shipments exceeded tens of millions, more than 50 sellers were attacked



The above supplier told Maizi that as far as he knows, more than 50 sellers have been attacked by Seller A. Currently, Seller A has occupied the TOP 20 in the relevant category, and the number of links in the top 100 is even higher.


Top 10 Christmas Lights, 1 and 2 , 6, 8 , and 9 are all products of seller A


The supplier said that many of his Amazon seller customers had their links turned into dangling links by seller A, and they have not been able to recover until now. Many of his seller customers have had their links refurbished many times. A large number of sellers in other Christmas light factories have also been harmed.


We all know that Christmas products are highly seasonal. If they cannot be sold before Christmas, these best-selling products will become a pile of inventory and can only be sold next year. Among the sellers attacked, some have a large inventory depth and can only refurbish and continue to sell, but the sellers have invested much more than before, and until now, these surviving links will still receive at least one negative review every day.


The supplier's customers have a stock inventory of five to six million, and the shipments of other factories combined are more than tens of millions. Because so many are involved, the losses are impossible to estimate.

Some sellers have now deleted multiple negative reviews and their rankings are gradually recovering. Other victimized sellers can also solve the negative review problem by opening a case with the review team, writing to [email protected], and [email protected].
