Many European countries have tightened their "lockdown" policies and cancelled Christmas markets, and sellers are about to be overwhelmed with orders again!

Earlier, EU officials admitted that the EU's "lifting of the ban" this summer was too hasty, resulting in a fierce rebound in the second wave of the epidemic in autumn and winter.

As the Christmas holiday is approaching, the COVID-19 outbreak continues to escalate. European countries have tightened their "epidemic prevention measures" and cancelled Christmas markets to avoid a peak in infections.
After Frankfurt and Erfurt announced the cancellation of Christmas markets, Germany's most famous and largest Nuremberg Christmas market was also cancelled. This market attracts more than 2 million people every year, including foreign tourists. The Christmas markets in Strasbourg, France and Prague, Czech Republic were also cancelled.
Germany "hard lockdown"! Until January 10 next year

As the COVID-19 epidemic continues to worsen, German Chancellor Angela Merkel held an emergency meeting with state governors on the 13th local time and made a resolution to upgrade the current "partial lockdown" to a "hard lockdown" from December 16th to January 10th next year .

During this period, most retail stores except food supermarkets must be closed, primary and secondary schools and kindergartens will also be closed, and the number of people in each family gathering during Christmas will be strictly limited. Private gatherings must not exceed 5 people (excluding children under 14 years old), and the participants can only come from two different families at most.

During Christmas from December 24 to 26, each family is allowed to invite four outsiders to the party. During the New Year's Eve from December 31 to January 1 of the following year, gatherings are prohibited throughout Germany, and fireworks are prohibited in public places.

From December 16 to January 10 of the following year, all shops except those selling food and other daily necessities must be closed.

France's "unblocking" failed, curfew implemented from 15th

French officials said on the 10th local time that since the "unblocking" goal of reducing the number of newly confirmed cases per day to less than 5,000 could not be achieved on the 15th of this month, the "unblocking" plan will be significantly adjusted.

First, a curfew will be resumed from the 15th , starting at 8 pm and ending at 6 am the next day. People who go out during the curfew must carry a travel certificate, otherwise they will face penalties.

The second is to postpone the reopening of cultural venues . Many Paris cultural landmarks, including the Louvre, the Orsay Museum and the Eiffel Tower, have confirmed on social media that they will remain closed in the second phase of the "unblocking" that will be implemented in France on December 15, and the new opening time will be notified separately.

Third, the control measures during the Christmas and New Year holidays have been strengthened . The curfew on Christmas Day, December 25, was temporarily lifted to allow families to reunite, but the authorities still recommend limiting the number of people at gatherings ; a curfew will still be in place on New Year's Eve, December 31.

The Netherlands has nearly 10,000 new confirmed cases per day! Is it going to "lock down" the city again?
Last week (in the past 7 days), a total of 56,688 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Netherlands , and the development trend of the epidemic in the Netherlands has clearly worsened.

Last Sunday, Jaap van Dissel, director of the Netherlands RIVM, immediately informed Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and six ministers in charge of related matters of the latest situation of the epidemic in the Netherlands.
Dutch media said: The Netherlands is implementing a stricter "lockdown policy" and it is "set in stone". They boldly predicted that the new epidemic prevention and control measures that the government may announce include:
Public venues such as museums, zoos, swimming pools, etc. will be closed; schools will continue to be closed due to the extension of the Christmas holidays; ultimately only supermarkets that are essential to ensuring people's lives will remain open, etc.
Italy tightens prevention and control measures, 20 regions "interlocked"!

The Italian government announced in December that it would tighten COVID-19 prevention and control measures to prevent a rebound in the epidemic during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

According to the new prevention and control measures, from December 21 to January 6 next year, Italy's 20 regions will be "interlocked" , and people are not allowed to travel across regions except for work, health or emergency reasons.

People are not allowed to leave the town where they live on Christmas Day (December 25), Boxing Day (December 26) and New Year's Day next year.

Most Poles buy Christmas gifts online
There will be no Christmas restaurants in Poland this year. Restaurants, bars, gyms and cultural facilities in Poland will remain closed until after Christmas.
The average Polish family plans to spend 1,318 zlotys (295 euros, 351 dollars) on gifts, food and other expenses this Christmas, a 29 percent drop from last year, according to a study by consulting firm Deloitte.
The survey also found that amid the coronavirus pandemic, nearly three-quarters of respondents intend to stay at home and avoid public places before Christmas, and 67% plan to limit the number of trips to traditional stores and prefer online shopping.
Furthermore, during the festive period, Poles are expected to spend more on gifts (680 PLN on average) than on food (430 PLN).
While physical stores remain the most popular shopping channel for most products, online retailers are likely to claim a large portion of the money Poland sets aside for Christmas gifts this year, according to research from Deloitte.
