Recently, Google announced that starting from April 6, 2021, Google will require sellers to ensure that the price displayed at checkout is equal to or lower than the price displayed on the landing page, otherwise Google may suspend the seller's account. Google's announcement is as follows: Consistent and accurate pricing is one of the most important factors shoppers consider when making a purchase. Shoppers are more likely to abandon a purchase if the price of a product at checkout is higher than the price shown in an ad, free product listing, or product landing page. Starting April 6, in addition to reviewing and enforcing price accuracy between your Merchant Center product data and your landing pages, Google will also begin reviewing and enforcing price accuracy at checkout. If during an account review Google discovers that a seller is offering a higher price for one of their products at checkout than on their landing page, you will receive a warning and have 28 days to resolve these mismatches or your account may be suspended at the end of the warning period. Only when consumers successfully check out can sellers truly achieve sales. Providing consumers with an excellent checkout experience can help sellers facilitate sales and increase conversion rates. To provide consumers with an excellent checkout experience, sellers must ensure that product prices are clear and transparent, and must follow the following requirements: ▶Your product prices should be consistent throughout the checkout process, not just between the product feed and the landing page. Never increase the price at checkout. However, if a promotion is added after the product is added to the shopping cart, you can lower the price. ▶Any additional costs (such as activation fees) must be included in the price. ▶Any costs associated with shipping (such as shipping, delivery, handling, or carrier-related charges) must be included in the value submitted for the shipping attribute. ▶Many countries, such as Argentina, Brazil, and Italy, require value-added tax (VAT), which must be included in the price attribute. ▶If you sell in the United States, you must clearly indicate whether sales tax is included in your feed attributes or account-level settings. Sellers can estimate sales tax higher in Merchant Center, but at checkout, the tax cannot be higher than the amount listed in Merchant Center. ▶Shipping costs must be submitted separately at the feed or account level. Please note that the feed-level shipping costs will override the account-level shipping costs. Sellers can estimate shipping costs higher in Merchant Center, but at checkout, shipping costs cannot be higher than the amount listed on the website. Consumers believe that they should pay the advertised price for a product. If the price advertised in a shopping ad or unpaid product listing is inconsistent with the price displayed in the user's shopping cart, it may cause a negative experience for consumers and may result in a failed sale. Therefore, sellers must provide accurate price information to avoid causing consumer dissatisfaction and resulting in lost sales. ( Article source: Seller’s Home ) |
