It is learned that according to a report released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the sharp growth of e-commerce due to the global lockdown caused by the 2019 COVID-19 pandemic has increased the share of online retail in all retail from 16% in 2020 to 19%. Authoritative data from all parties show that the outbreak has significantly boosted global e-commerce.

The epidemic has also stimulated a significant increase in demand for epidemic prevention supplies, and many businesses have targeted this huge business opportunity. However, with the popularity of epidemic prevention supplies, problems such as insufficient supply, price gouging, and substandard quality have also emerged. The worst of these is the counterfeit vaccine card incident reported by foreign media recently .

Thousands of counterfeit vaccination cards seized in US

As the Delta variant virus sweeps across the United States, more and more American universities and colleges require students to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or vaccine cards , before they can attend offline courses. However, some students would rather falsify than get vaccinated.

On the Internet, a fake vaccination card "industry" has sprung up in the United States, providing false certificates for those who have not been vaccinated for personal or religious reasons.

It is learned that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized more than 3,000 fake vaccine cards shipped from China to Tennessee last week, CBS reported on Monday .

The agency said in a statement that the shipment, disguised as paper greeting cards, was intercepted at the Port of Memphis on its way to New Orleans' central business district, and Customs and Border Patrol officials immediately determined that it was counterfeit vaccine cards after reading the description on the cargo manifest.

It is reported that this was the 15th batch of such goods that night, which contained 51 crudely made, forged COVID-19 vaccination cards. These forged vaccination cards contain names, birthdays, vaccine brands and other information, as well as the logo of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but they are obviously counterfeit products through obvious flaws such as misspellings and missing words.

Relevant personnel said that these fake vaccine cards were divided into three groups of 20, 51 and 100 cards. So far, officials in the city have seized 121 batches of fakes, totaling 3,017 counterfeit vaccine cards.

It is learned that regular vaccine cards are usually imported from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or medical entities, and this batch of vaccination cards were shipped from China. Customs staff also pointed out that the same sender information had appeared many times in the boxes of counterfeit vaccine cards seized previously.

According to the Associated Press, these vaccination cards were sold on Instagram for $25 , and a counterfeit vaccination card manufacturer sold them for $200 each through the encrypted messaging app Telegram . Students at dozens of local universities in the United States have purchased counterfeit vaccination cards.

This phenomenon has also attracted the attention of the FBI, which has begun to crack down on counterfeit vaccination cards. Violators will face fines and up to five years in prison.

The recent global epidemic situation is not optimistic. Epidemic prevention is still the core priority of all mankind. Countries around the world have launched a wave of calls for vaccination. However, these unscrupulous merchants forged vaccine cards for a small profit and went viral overseas. Many sellers angrily denounced:

"They keep saying that they were wrongly blocked, but in fact they are doing something to harm others!"
"If we can find out which store it is, we will bomb it and call the police. It will not only affect our industry, but also the image of China."
“Just like the group of people who had their shops closed for selling masks, they did something that was against the will of heaven and earth, and they still blame the platform for costing them their hard-earned money!”

The sellers’ indignation about this matter is understandable, but the report only pointed out that these counterfeit vaccine cards were shipped from China, and did not confirm that they were done by Chinese Amazon sellers.

No matter which e-commerce platform you sell your products on, compliance operations are the most basic principle that every seller should abide by. Recently, Amazon has been cracking down on sellers who manipulate reviews, and the account ban wave has shaken the entire cross-border circle. Of course, there are many sellers who have been misjudged, but there are also many sellers who knowingly violate the rules.

There are constant disturbances regarding epidemic prevention items, and compliant operations are the right way to go!

In fact , since the outbreak of the epidemic, there have been continuous controversies caused by epidemic prevention items.

In May last year, many sellers had their accounts and funds frozen because the platform judged that the masks and other epidemic prevention materials they sold on Amazon violated the platform's policy regulations. Since their complaints to the platform were fruitless, the organization went to the sellers' homes to recover the accounts and frozen funds.

Despite the sellers' tearful complaints, Amazon has always strictly stipulated that the sale of epidemic prevention items must meet compliance requirements. As early as March last year, Amazon successively issued a number of sales policies on masks and other epidemic prevention materials, requiring relevant qualifications to be reviewed before obtaining sales rights.

After the policy was released, many sellers had their products removed from Amazon or even had their accounts blocked due to poor quality, price gouging, lack of qualifications and certification, etc. Among them, the vast majority of the 2,500 accounts that were closed for price fraud were Chinese sellers.

Amazon later investigated and confirmed that these sellers had violated the platform's regulatory rules and even took various measures to cover up their violations. Even though Amazon had issued advance warnings, they still chose to continue violating the rules .

In this regard, many sellers have severely condemned this behavior, believing that these sellers are opportunistic and cut corners in order to make quick money, and that they seek wealth and fame at the risk of their own accord, and that the greater the profit, the greater the risk.

The lessons of these sellers have also sounded a wake-up call for everyone. In front of the platform, sellers are just insignificant grass, so it is absolutely not advisable to take risks with a fluke mentality. The platform's golden rules must not be violated. Every seller should always keep the rules and interests in balance, adhere to compliant and legal operations, and avoid policy minefields.
