Costco and Uber partner to trial same-day delivery service

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, the US retail giant Costco recently cooperated with Uber to launch a same-day delivery service, and will pilot it in 25 locations in Texas.

The same-day delivery service launched by Costco in cooperation with Uber allows Costco members to enjoy fast door-to-door delivery service via Uber. The minimum order amount is US$35, and holders of Uber Pass and Eats Pass can enjoy free delivery.

It is learned that since July 21, Uber users in Dallas, Austin and Houston first ordered at local Costco warehouses, and then users experienced ordering at other Costco warehouses through the Uber and Uber Eats apps.

Costco's partnership with Uber has more than doubled Uber's grocery delivery volume and increased same-day delivery service to more than 400 cities and towns.

“Uber’s partnership with Costco is a critical juncture in the convergence of wholesale and retail with on-demand delivery, and Texans are excited to be the first to experience same-day delivery,” said Raj Beri, head of grocery delivery at Uber.

Costco operates 809 warehouses worldwide and also has e-commerce sites in multiple countries. The company ranked No. 4 on Progressive Grocer's 2021 list of the top food and consumer product retailers in North America.
