It is learned that according to the "2024 Spring Recruitment High-Paying Careers and Talent Insights" released by Maimai Gaopin, in the first quarter of 2024, ChatGPT researchers ranked first in the list of high-paying jobs with an average monthly salary of 64,000 yuan for newly created positions, followed by digital front-end engineers with 62,600 yuan, and analog chip design ranked third with 62,300 yuan.
In the cross-border e-commerce industry, with the iteration and upgrade of ChatGPT and the intensifying wave of cross-border AI, cross-border companies are also increasingly demanding relevant talents, and are offering high salaries to recruit talents. It is understood that since the beginning of this year, with the slow recovery of the global economy and the industry entering the fast lane of development, the recruitment demand in the cross-border e-commerce industry is gradually picking up.
In addition to operational positions, cross-border companies are also seeing a surge in demand for Amazon product developers. According to Zhiyouji data, the number of Amazon product developer job openings in 2024 increased by 183% compared to the same period in 2023 , with January even increasing by 300% compared to the same period last year .

However, it is worth mentioning that in the new round of recruitment, the salary of Amazon product developer positions has not risen with the continued growth of recruitment demand. According to data from Zhiyouji, as of April, the salary of Amazon product developer positions in 2024 will be the same as in 2023 , with no significant increase.

According to industry feedback, there are two reasons for this situation: First, the current global economic environment is becoming more complex, severe and uncertain. Cross-border sellers still need to reduce costs and increase efficiency, and are becoming more cautious in spending on human resource management costs . Second, in a highly competitive market, with the shift in development routes and the expansion of sales channels, cross-border companies need to recruit product development talents more accurately to improve efficiency. It is worth mentioning that as the cross-border AI wave intensifies, all links in the cross-border e-commerce industry chain have joined the trend of digital upgrades, relying on digital means to achieve accurate decision-making and leverage efficiency. The same is true for product development as an important part of it. Therefore, among the complaints that product development salaries have not increased but decreased, some product developers who master ChatGPT-related technologies are still hired with high salaries. Taking the positions currently recruited by a large seller in Shenzhen as an example, the salaries for positions such as senior product development and cross-border product development experts are all in the range of 10,000 to 15,000, while the salary for artificial intelligence product managers is as high as 35,000 : mainly responsible for analyzing the competitive advantages and disadvantages and market demand of ChatGPT products through technical analysis and market research, and proposing plans and strategies for developing ChatGPT products.
It is foreseeable that the cross-border e-commerce industry is undergoing a digital transformation, and the flexible use of digital means to penetrate product research and development and other links has become a general trend. Looking back at the cross-border industry recruitment situation in 2023, the structural contradictions of "difficult employment" and "difficult recruitment" coexisted throughout the year. Survey data show that in 2023, only 16.51% of those going overseas are optimistic about the cross-border employment environment, and 29.64% of those going overseas believe that the industry's job search threshold is high and it is difficult to find a job.
Now that the tug-of-war in the new year has begun, the number of people who are optimistic about the cross-border employment situation has increased, but at the same time, the growth rate of people who are pessimistic is higher. By comparing the attitudes of those who have gone overseas in the past two years towards the employment situation, we can see that the recruitment demand in the cross-border e-commerce industry continues to pick up this year, but the recruitment threshold has also been further raised. Due to changes in the market environment, coupled with the mismatch of salary requirements, work content and other conditions, it is difficult for both the cross-border industry recruiters and job seekers to find suitable candidates and companies.
Many sellers said that nowadays cross-border companies are becoming more and more strict in talent screening, and it can almost be said that they all maintain the standard of "better to have nothing than to hire the wrong person" . Some sellers also revealed that in order to save costs, many cross-border companies will hire excellent product developers to select products for the company, resulting in some product developers being unemployed at home while other product development talents take on multiple jobs.
In such an environment, facing the increasing uncertainty in the future, job seekers need to focus more on improving their own abilities in order to achieve long-term development.
