In November 2011, the company received €4 million in funding from venture capital firms Vorwerk Direct Selling Ventures and Piton Capital.

In 2012, DaWanda plans to open offices in other European countries.

In January 2015, U.S. investor Insight Venture Partners took over DaWanda, holding a 55.7% stake in the company at the time.

In 2016, the company lost 4.2 million euros. The company's founder Michael Putz left the platform in the same year. - In June 2017, DaWanda announced layoffs at its Berlin headquarters and branches in Poland and Spain.

In June 2018, it was reported that DaWanda planned to shut down the platform completely by the end of August 2018. At the same time, competitor Etsy announced that it would not take over the company itself, but its sellers.
