Development History

In the first quarter of 2013, ironSource acquired Israeli advertising technology and network company AfterDownload Ltd. for $28 million to expand its integrated distribution, installation and value-building tools for software developers, publishers and advertisers.

ironSource opened a US office in San Francisco in August 2013 and an office in Beijing, China in May 2014. ironSource established an office in the United Kingdom in April 2015.

In September 2014, ironSource acquired gaming company Upopa ironSource raised approximately $85 million from a group of international investors and acquired mobile gaming studio Upopa in the fall of 2014.

In September 2015, ironSource merged SuperSonic into its mobile operations for an estimated $200 million. The new organization renamed itself ironSource and has more than 700 employees, half of whom are dedicated to research and development.

In May 2016, ironSource announced the launch of its big data solution suite – Atom, with the introduction of Data Stream Management, a powerful data infrastructure solution that allows data-driven businesses to securely stream billions of daily events to storage in the cloud in near real-time.

In July 2016, ironSource announced the acquisition of Sequoia-backed video technology company StreamRail. The 15-person StreamRail team joined ironSource's Advertiser Solutions division, and their video delivery and monetization expertise will be used to enhance ironSource's existing branded video advertising platform – ironSource Neon.

On October 3, 2018, ironSource released the UAR measurement tool, which allows developers to measure the effectiveness of ad designs consistent with other similar tools used among devlopers as a way to evaluate return on ad spend (ROAS).

As of October 2019, ironSource has received more than $400 million in investment from CVC Funds.

In April 2020, ironSource, the world's leading mobile advertising platform, was ranked third in the "Global Advertising Platform Comprehensive Strength". In the latest AppsFlyer "Advertising Platform Comprehensive Performance Report. Tenth Edition", due to its outstanding performance in the second half of 2019, it was rated as the "World's Third Largest Game Advertising Platform", becoming the world's largest independent advertising platform for game traffic after Google and Facebook, and one of the must-choose advertising platforms for game developers to go overseas.
