Beware! Amazon US is suspected to launch KYC audit, and a large number of sellers are suddenly scanned!
Video account attention cross-border navigation

The peak season is approaching, and the cross-border circle seems to be in trouble again. Last week, a bug suddenly occurred in the Amazon system, and a large number of sellers sold out thousands of stocks overnight. According to many foreign sellers, the first batch of "bug products" has arrived one after another.

Although this wave of 0-yuan purchase farce has made many sellers happy with the "experience of seeing their product ranking rise from 40,000th to fourth place", many sellers are also worried that their accounts will be negatively affected and even their stores will be closed by Amazon in the name of a surge in sales.

However, although the sellers' concerns have not been confirmed, the Amazon store closure storm has indeed swept again. Recently, a large number of sellers reported that Amazon frequently conducts second-instance, association, infringement and other sweeps.

It has been nearly a year since last year's account suspension, and Amazon's successive actions now inevitably make people worry whether the account suspension wave will make a comeback. At this time, Amazon's US site backend suddenly updated the KYC information, and risk control is suspected to be further upgraded.

Amazon US site includes KYC information, is it suspected to initiate KYC audit?

KYC audit is a must for normal sales of European accounts, which has always been a headache for many European sellers. When a certain sales amount is reached, the account will automatically trigger an audit, and the seller must submit the information truthfully before continuing to sell.

Compared with the second review of the US site account, the KYC review is more stringent. If the account fails the first review, it is likely to be greatly affected.

Just a few days ago, a seller on the US site found that KYC information was suddenly included in the store registration business information column when logging into the Amazon backend.

Many sellers who found this information in the background were very panicked. Does the US site also need to start KYC review?

"Personal accounts are even more trembling, so we still need to prepare in advance."
“KYC is a bit troublesome. I hope the US site won’t be too strict.”
"I saw this option on the backend of the US site. Although the information is true, I still tremble with fear."
"No way, can they stop bothering sellers? Is Amazon so short of money that it's thinking about closing down stores every day?"

A seller on the US site clicked on this column to try to access it, but found that the page was temporarily not functioning properly.

Therefore, some sellers speculate that Amazon is probably in the testing phase, and once completed, it will initiate KYC verification for eligible accounts.

Some sellers also said that in fact this content has existed for a long time, and the account information also includes VAT, mainly for global sales.

However, after consulting the investment manager, the investment manager said that he was basically unaware of this and had not received any internal notification, so it was most likely a new update.

"There are big moves every year, and I don't know how big the turmoil will be this time. There are so many seller accounts now, and non-compliant accounts will definitely be cleared out again." A seller said worriedly.

It is reported that many sellers on the US site have problems such as false information, inability to contact the legal person, and water, electricity and gas bills that do not meet the requirements. Even if a full set of real information is provided, there is still a certain chance that they will not be approved.

Some sellers said that the key is the need to provide bank statements of public accounts, which means that even shops with zero declarations will not pass. This problem is particularly serious for shops that sell goods in bulk, which is a "disaster imminent".

From this point of view, once Amazon US also starts KYC verification for all sellers, it will be another round of account suspension for many sellers who operate multiple accounts. In this regard, some sellers remind sellers to clear their stock now, and some even predict that more than 40% of their accounts will be suspended.

It is not clear whether Amazon will popularize KYC audits in the United States, and the official has not yet responded to this matter. However, it is clear that Amazon has once again sent out a signal of increasing supervision and strengthening risk control, and its recent frequent number scanning operations are a clear example.

Amazon frequently scans accounts, is risk control upgraded again?

Recently, there was a rumor that a large seller in Shenzhen had dozens of accounts blocked overnight. At the same time, many sellers also reported that a large number of accounts were cleared by Amazon.

A seller said that all the accounts recently registered by the company were scanned for a second review. Amazon said in an email: We are unable to verify the information related to your seller account, or have not received any new information about your products or sales history.

The seller revealed that the emails received by the blocked stores were all the same. What was incredible was that these stores had all passed the video verification, and the information they submitted was also authentic, and they were links from key account managers.

Soon, a seller pointed out that the real “cause of death” behind this was because it was linked to a cross-border payment platform. One seller said that he had 9 accounts blocked this year for the same reason. Although he used real information and all process steps were in compliance with regulations, the investment manager’s internal channel appeal determined his account as a high-risk account.

We have learned that recently sellers have been receiving a large number of second-inspection scanning emails at the same time. In addition to newly registered accounts, old accounts registered and placed orders normally a few years ago were also not spared. Among them, accounts bound to different types of cross-border payment platforms have all been blocked.

However, according to the feedback from sellers, it is not difficult to see that many sellers have bound multiple stores to the same payment platform, which undoubtedly leads to a greater risk of account suspension.

In addition, many sellers have been banned recently due to UPC issues. In the previous article "A large number of sellers' listings turned into fakes overnight? Amazon's fake listing nightmare is coming!", it was reported that a seller's listings on the US and European sites all turned into fakes overnight because they did not provide a valid UPC digital certificate.

It is reported that a considerable number of sellers have been purchasing UPC through various unofficial channels, and Amazon has suddenly detonated this time bomb, and the listings involved are basically hopeless to recover.

It can be seen that Amazon has recently been upgrading its risk control measures and strengthening various compliance audits on accounts. Many sellers' stores have been swept up in association and second-inspection raids. Here, we would like to remind all sellers to operate in compliance and not to take shortcuts. No matter how deep the illegal mines are buried, they may be detonated at any time.
