Indiegogo was one of the first websites to offer crowdfunding services, allowing users to launch breakthrough new products and allow people to donate to art projects, small businesses, and cause-driven causes.

1. Indiegogo was founded in 2008 by Danae, Eric and Slava and is headquartered in San Francisco.


2. The Indiegogo website has 10 million visits per month, with users from 235 countries and regions. There are more than 19,000 crowdfunding projects per month, and 47% of the projects that exceed the crowdfunding target are initiated by women.



3. Indiegogo accepts any type of crowdfunding project.


Platform Fees


Fixed financing: Indiegogo will charge a 4% platform fee for successful projects and 9% for failed projects;


Flexible financing: Indiegogo will charge a 4% platform fee for successful projects and no fee for failed projects.

1. Omnicharge Smart Power Bank – The most powerful dual USB-C mobile power bank ever broke crowdfunding records, raising more than $3.5 million through Indiegogo;


2. Nebula - As the most advanced smart micro projector, Nebula is also the projector that raised the most funds through crowdfunding, raising more than $1.2 million on Indiegogo;

Financing


In 2011, Indiegogo received $1.5 million in seed funding.


In August 2012, Indiegogo received $15 million in Series A funding, led by Insight Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures, with other participants including previous investors MHS CAPItal, ffVenture Capital and Steve Schoettler.


In 2014, Indiegogo successfully completed its Series B financing of 40 million US dollars, with investors including the famous KPCB.


Differences from Kickstarter


1. IndieGoGo will only collect collateral funds from customers when they meet their profit targets before the deadline;


2. IndieGoGo only charges a 4% commission, while Kickstarter charges 5%;


3. IndieGoGo provides US market research services, video production and product shooting services, professional American graphic design services, and professional American copywriting services.
